No, Mosely skipped 140 because of Tszyu. Trust me on this. Oscar was the easier route.

You really think the worst of American fighters. Both Mosley and ODH were big LA County fighters. Mosley always had his eye on Oscar. The 1st fight with Oscar was his biggest payday. I think that was the motivation behind moving past 140, not fear of Tszyu. But damn, that would have been a great fight.

Ahh struck a nerve did i ??? .It's the one thing you nut huggers can't get over. the cool one bashed KT. Do you really think Vince would have mugged Oscar???. I bet you got all wet when Timmeh put out his Hit list, how did that work out?? Another thing Kostya was a Russian, he was born and raised in Russia, he served in the Russian military, when he squeesed all he could out of Australia he returned to Russia where he now lives. Kostya arrived here with his wife with the arse out of his pants, Bill Mordey arranged his living quarters, a gym to train and guided him to numerous world titles, What did Kostya do he sued Mordey for seven million dollars, Thats the real Kostya Tszyu. As for ODH look at thier opponents, Oscar all day and twice on sundays.

LOL that's rich, you and your mates think the worst of Aussie fighters even though they go on the road as underdogs and still perform. You guys talk like Oscar beating Tszyu is a forgone conclusion I guarantee the bookies only would've had Oscar as a slight favorite. Picking either guy to win is hardly ridiculous.

Kostya was fighting on HBO when Oscar & Shane Mosley passed him by. Only Floyd has the television networks excuse (a legitimate one) for not fighting him. Kostya fought the main support when Oscar fought Miguel Angel Gonzalez. Kostya would have been in frame as Oscar's next opponent had Oscar stuck around at 140, but he elected to move up to Welterweight. People are obsessed with the word 'avoid' (which I didn't use). It was a simple risk / reward calculation. Kostya posed considerable risk for not a great deal of reward at the time.

Look at my post in the thread. I said pre Vince Phlilips I'd favor Osar, post Philips, since Tszyu most definitely would have learned and grown, would be a closer fight and I wouldn't count Tszyu out.
At least I don't come up with fantasy scenarios trying to make the fighters I like seem like monsters. Yeah, Mayweather ducked Tszyu, Mosley skipped the entire division so as not to fight Tszyu, Oscar stirred clear of him. Really? If Tszyu was that dude, he would have had a way better career than he did. And another thing, stop making it out to be like some big accomplishment going and winning on the road. American fighters don't need to go on the road because for the better part of a century most of the world best and greatest boxing talents came to America to make their fortune. I never heard any fighter say they want to go to Australia to make a name in the sport of boxing. The only fighters that want to go to Australia to fight is an Aussie that got their ass whooped in America. LOL

'Ducked' is your word, not mine. What I said was that Kostya Tszyu was in the 'don't fight him if you don't have to category'. If you can't appreciate the difference between those categorizations, that's on you. I've acknowledged here & elsewhere that the television situation was the principal reason a Kostya Tszyu v Floyd Mayweather never happened. You're erroneously trying to spin it as something else. The timing of the Sharmba Mitchell fight in November 2004 was convenient for a Floyd fight thereafter. They didn't fight because they were campaigning on different television networks. That doesn't change the fact that Kostya Tszyu was a guy who the top Americans were happy to leave alone.

You're trying to make it seem as if FM did not want to fight him. I think both Tszyu and Mayweather picked the road to the biggest payday. Hatton was huge in the UK, Gatti was a big draw for years in the US. Perhaps it was high risk low reward situation for both at that time. I believe most top fighters, especially when they are coming up, will fight the guys they need to move up. If Floyd needed to fight Tszyu to get a huge boost in his career, I believe it would have happened.

Great post, Serge. As usual. Only wise ones on this board fully appreciate how good Kostya Tszyu was.

Livingstone Bramble, Jake the Snake Rodriguez & Miguel Angel Gonzalez were all great wins for Kostya & I think illustrate his true claim to greatness. He fought top level opposition at every stage of his career. Certainly in the amateurs, where he was world champ at 139lbs, early in his professional career (Juan La Porte, Livingstone Bramble & Hector Lopez), his first title run from Jake Rodriguez through to Cool Vince, his rebuild against the likes of Diobelys Hurtado, Miguel Angel Gonzalez & JCC through to his unification run & defence of the titles (Sharmba & Zab).

A lot of people are only familiar with the back end of his career but there was so much more to it than that.

It would happened if Tszyu wanted to fight Mayweather. I remember those times and Tsyzu wouldn’t even say Mayweather’s name.

Big name American fighters decide who they're going to fight in America. Not blokes from the other side of the world.
