Vitali had Lewis in the worst shape of his life and still couldn't capitalize like Rahman did. Lennox beats him again.

    Klitschko.

Lennox got out at the perfect time and he was not going to be close enough to 100% to defeat a challenge like this. And Sdunek has one of the best records ever in title fights--so he has his guy prepared.

I think a lot is said about Lewis's age and decline but Vitali was also not prime in fight 1 and Lewis had about 10 more fights than Vitali so still had some left, Vitali gained confidence from fight 1 and improved - he took out Kirk Johnson impressively and Corrie Sanders next. I think prime vs prime it would be a close fight. Vitali can punch very well but usually beat his opponents by attrition beat down, continuous pounding and stoppage.
prime vs prime could go either way but, in the rematch, I would bet heavily on Vitali by stoppage

In this scenario, had he been able to get himself into the shape to face Vitali, his chin would hold and more importantly Lewis would be able to throw combinations without blowing hard so quickly.

In my mind, had Lewis been fitter and given how he caught Vitali in their fight, in a rematch where Lennox manages to come in with better shape and more intensity, I would put a small cheeky wager that he could ruin Vitali.

Conversely, I do recognise that Vitali likely improves enough to use his high work rate and great chin to push Lennox to a pace that he cannot sustain and his awkward style eventually gets to Lennox around Rounds 10 - 12.

Lennox was just a better fighter tho - in the best possible shape they both could come in relative to their real right, I err on the side of Lewis.

Totally agree. I think Lewis had come out the other side. Even without the cuts there's a strong chance for me that he would have stopped him.

I agree that there was a strong chance without the cuts but I recall Lennox looking really tired by the end of it. I do caveat that with him clearly not being primed to face Vitali and it's a massive what if - ultimately, Vitali was cut and I happen to think Lewis would do it again in a rematch and probably worse.

I think Vitali was wilting as well. He'd taken some serious punishment and was as knocked around as Lewis was tired.

Exactly why I suspect that a fitter Lennox would possibly ruin him.

Vitali doesn't have the head movement and ability to avoid an on song Lennox from landing the big right time and time again and if he doesn't cut, with his chin, Lennox punishes him.

Totally on board with that mate. Vitali found Lewis quite a bit with the right, but Lewis sure as hell tagged him harder. Lewis actually shipped Vitali's right hand extremely well.........which is a great concern for Vitali.

Lewis's fans believe in his success more than he does, than his trainer, than his wife, than his mother...

If Lewis believed he would win, there would have been a rematch because he planned at least a few more fights.
    Big pay-day...
Why did he wait for the result of the Klitschko-Johnson eliminator? Why didn't he relinquish the belt after the first fight, but did so only when the WBC ordered a rematch?

Your only argument has always been personal attacks :) Isn't this just trolling, not appropriate for this site? Can't you be a substantive user?

Lennox was a pretty good boxer and nice in his private life.

I wonder how he would have fared against a younger Mercer and a healthy Mavrovic, but I think he won those fights and didn't want a rematch with Vito. No. 3 ever? In that case, Ray is at least 4 :) He set his limit in a fight where Lewis gave his all. For me, you can classify them that way. If I were a troll like you, I could write that you're licking Lennox's balls and you should be licking Ray's, but you know the truth, right? Have a wonderful day :)

Vitali would have pounded him. Until the cut became a factor Lewis was being beaten up like he'd never been beaten up before.

The cut was opened in the third round, where Lennox changed the strategy, started to brawl and pounded Vitali. After the first two rounds he lost, you can argue he won 3 out of the next 4.
