The problem is that punchers/sluggers draw many more people.
Safety first boxers really don't especially coming up through the ranks.

As someone who wanted to do it as a teenager but didn’t have the opportunities to do so, and am now starting at 40, I’m gonna say yes.

I haven’t felt this alive in a long time.

My goals aren’t lofty, turn pro, fight small venues, 4 and 6 rounders, if I win those types of fights, I’ll see where the ceiling is.

Believe it or not, I’ve been truly inspired by the number of fighters have seen on the box rec database that not only fight into their 40s, but some of that fight into their 50s. There’s a dude in Massachusetts who came back to the sport after a 30 year layoff, he won both of his fights at 57 years old. One of them, he knocked out a dude less than half his age.

I plan on taking this as far as I absolutely take it, no matter how low or how high it ends up being.

i’m only just getting started, I started taking individual lessons last September and I’ve been sparring the last couple months, I figured the first year is going to be solely sparring and working on my cardio conditioning. We’ll see where I’m at after the end of the first year. But I absolutely love it.

I joined about 20 years ago, I'm hardly ever here anymore. Just checking in once in a blue moon and sometimes post things like this one.

The gloves are the problem, the state commissions should start looking at making them lighter so beatings can’t be sustained and there should be more medical regulations. Look at the 19 year old Isis Sio who’s in a coma now, california commission let her fight 50 days after taking some head punishment and took a body knockout. boxing isn’t worth it for 99.99% of the participants.

Far less than boxing, I’m sure of that

By your logic, all sports pose a threat to one’s health and body

it started sissifying the game long ago. Jack Lambert commented upon it in the late seventies.
