19 yr old female boxer Isis Sio in induced coma after terrible PROBOX matchmaking

Very sad. Matchmakers should have the possibility of facing charges for **** like this. It seems to be par for the course anymore.

 

I hope she recovers, but mismatches happen hundreds of time every week. She was KOd with a shot to the body two months ago how is that relevant for this head injury? Also her opponent had a whopping 11 amateur fights and only a couple fights more than her and only 1 KO. I didn't see the fight was her opponent much much bigger?, did the ref let it go on too long,? Or was this just an unfortunate accident?

 

Why oh why have we brought women into this brutal sport? $$$

Here goes,,women have no business in a boxing ring, and why a man would watch this stuff is beyond me.

 

Real talk I've seen females on worldstar who look tougher without even training than a lot of these broads who get into the ring. The recent Shields fight highlighted what a joke female boxing is across the board - her opponent literally looked like a middle aged mom and she still went the distance and hung tough. There is zero talent pool so anyone like Taylor or Shields is just going to completely dominate. Either that or you get women who actually look like women but act like total whores to market themselves. It's a joke. i don't care about being called a sexist I'd gladly go back to 20+ years ago in boxing when it virtually got zero fanfare outside of Christy Martin. It's just another sideshow show attraction which clogs up and further pollutes the sport.

 

Agreed. It's very unusual to see brain injuries from first-round knockouts. Usually it comes after a long grueling battle, where one fighter has clearly been outclassed, but has been too tough for their own good. That's why you don't often see heavyweights end up like this, it's always usually the smaller fighters. They can throw and take a hell of a lot more shots.

I do think when it comes to the rarer cases like this, it probably is a pre-existing injury. Anyone remember that fight in South Africa a few years back, where that guy suddenly out of nowhere started fighting the ropes in the corner, thinking it was his opponent? He sadly died a few days later. But he was winning that fight, and from all accounts, had hardly took any damage. I'm guessing it was just one or two jabs that he took, and the brain gave up on him.

It's encouraging to see that she's already awake and talking. That's a good sign. Hopefully this will end up being a Spencer Oliver situation rather than a Gerald McLellan one.

 

if women want to box other women, and if people want to watch it, so be it. Grown ass adults can do dangerous things if they want to, doesn’t matter their gender.

if this had been a woman vs a man, different story. But it wasn’t. It was a woman vs a woman. And not even that bad of a mismatch.

I saw she’s awake and recovering, thankfully. Hopefully she takes this as a sign it’s time to move on from boxing and do something else.

You say you don't care what people do, but you said women have no business being in a boxing ring. Bit of a contradiction. And it's a ridiculous thing to say. It's a mystery to me that some people still think this way. I've seen some fantastic fights involving women, particularly involving Katie Taylor. And the best UFC match I've ever watched was between two women. If you don't like it, don't watch.
