Lewis opened up 3 different cuts that isn't some random occurrence, Lewis was the highest level puncher he faced. Byrd vs Vitali was very competitive before Vitali had to pull out. Vitali couldn't dominate these guys like he did everyone else regardless of the ending circumstances, but Lewis in particular, he was going to end Vitalis career if that fight wasn't stopped.

If Lewis and Vitali had a rematch, one would think Vitali wouldn't get plagued with unforseen injuries the second time and his odds exponentially increase, but all Lewis would need to do is show up in better shape preparing for Vitali, open up one of the previous lacerations (which is far more likely than people want to admit) and he probably wins again. Without any cuts Vitali probably wins this, but prime Lennox is 100% beating both Klitschkos

Lewis vs Vitali 2 would've had the most anti climactic ending.

Again, having a fight end on cuts is rare. Vitali never had any issues with cuts after the Lennox fight (and he fought less than 6 months later).

Vitali proved he could take Lennox's best punch, but Lennox had to hold on more than anyone I have ever seen in a boxing match when Vitali hit him in round 2.

$50 million dollars. Very few people walk away from making this kind of money in the world. I doubt anyone in boxing would.

Because he wasn't fighting Lennox. Lewis landed the most punches out of anyone Vitali faced. Also I actually do remember Vitali getting cut post Lewis, I forgot who caused it I'll have to research a bit

I believe if they had an immediate rematch, Lewis would've stopped him on cuts again, he opened up 3 of them in the first fight and in the rematch Vitali would be coming in with scar tissue against a better prepared Lewis.

It would be very ironic but it's much more plausible than people think

Lewis also did well in rematches so maybe thats a factor

What makes you think he wasn’t in good shape against Vitali?

Career heaviest, sluggish, was preparing for a much lesser fighter. Look at what happened last time Lewis was at a career heaviest before 2003

It's just another excuse that is made. I forget what round (I think round 4), but Emanuel actually tells Lennox to use his weight. The career high in weight was part of the strategy to push VK around. IMO if he didn't have that extra weight he probably would have been sleeping when he got caught in round 2.

He was fighting Johnson until two weeks before the fight.

I like the idea that a previously svelte Lewis spent those two weeks desperately forcing cakes into his mouth rather than say, being out of shape anyway because he didn't rate Johnson.

Both were preparing for nobodies, and no this wasn’t a Rahman situation, Lewis’ weight literally gave him the win, he wouldn’t be able to walk down and handle Vitali in the clinch like that if he wasn’t a hulking 256 lbs fridge, nor would he be able to perform like that in such a dirty, clinch-filled, energy-draining inside war. Even Vitali was tired despite his insane gas tank.

Vitali has been preparing for Lewis for years he admitted this in an interview. Lewis's extra weight did not make him stronger, where's the proof of this ? There is no proof. It doesn't condition him better, it doesn't give him more energy and it slowed him down a bit

Why would Lewis carrying 10 pounds of fat give him the ability to walk down Klitschko ? as a matter of fact, he never manhandled Klitschko at any point in the fight.

Lewis was always physically one of the strongest heavyweights of the 90s. Do you genuinely believe a 245 pound Lewis who prepared for Vitali would have lost ?

No he didn’t, he just said he had Lewis on his mind and knew that they’d meet one day. He obviously didn’t practice how to counter Lewis’ jab and uppercut while prepping for Chris Byrd and others, thats just ridiculous. Basic physics, pushing back 256 lbs is harder than 240 lbs. Weight matters more than strength in the clinch, this isn’t weight-lifting.

Fat? What are you talking about lol, Lewis literally had abs, he was full of muscle. As someone else pointed out, Steward even told him to use his weight against Vitali. It helped him in the clinch which is where Lewis won the match.

Yes. Lewis was almost 10 lbs heavier than Vitali, Vitali had to work harder to push him back in the clinch which is why he was tired so early. If Lewis was lighter than Vitali, he’d need to work harder to push him back and he’d gas out even faster. Therefore he’d need to spend more time boxing at range, and Vitali was beating him around when that happened in the first 2 rounds.

We can of course debate all of this from all ends understandably but the time they did fight Lewis won and it has to be a massive plus on his standing.

He said he had been preparing for Lewis and had strategies 6 months before the fight, so thats wrong.

Extra weight hindered Lewis more than it helped him, all it did was signal potential conditioning problems and made him look slower, or maybe that was his age. Lewis was always one of the strongest heavyweights of his generation, the extra weight wouldn't have done much. The idea of 10 pounds of fat making him substantially harder to move doesn't seem realistic especially when that weight can sap Lewis's energy just as you say it saps Klitschkos energy. Additionally Lewis likely underestimated Vitali.

None of that means he actually has a tested plan, he is just aware of the possibility of fighting Lewis. “Developing strategies” and actually going through a training camp specifically for Lewis are completely different things. This is a huge reach, we don’t even know if he is telling the truth or just lying to hype up the fight, he’s being extremely vague with no proof.

No it didnt. You still can’t understand, it has nothing to do with strength, even if you are stronger than someone you need to expand more energy to push them back if they are heavier. That’s why guys like Fury come in heavier when they plan to bully someone up close. Weight would only be a disadvantage if Lewis decided to move around and box at range. It was an advantage in the pocket because Lewis could rest and force Vitali to work more than him by laying on him. If Vitali was heavier the exact opposite would happen, and Lewis would need to switch strategies to not gas out, box at range and get KO’d.

It doesn't matter what you think this is coming out of Vitalis own mouth 6 months before the actual fight happened lol. His words over yours. Lewis didn't have a care in the world about Vitali and likely underestimated him wheras Vitali had been studying Lewis
Exerting effort will always require more energy if you have excess fat compared to your peak fighting weight and it visibly made Lewis slower. It will never make his conditioning better and the impact of 10 pounds of fat on Lewis gave him no visible advantages in the clinches, Vitali despite tiring still had more energy than Lewis. He'd have been able to physically stand his ground against Vitali and would've had as good or better stamina levels if he prepared for this kind of opponent better and was 245 pounds

You are just attributing Lewis holding his own in the clinches to the extra weight when there is no proof, but even if you were correct about this, it is nonesense to suggest Lewis won the fight because of that extra fat, but this is exactly what you said. You didn't even attribute the win to cuts, but because Lewis was overweight ?
Only anyone without any critical thinking skills would agree with this

He’s not even saying anything lmao what tf are you even talking about? Having strategies =/= actually being prepared, be as salty about it as you like.

Your “excess fat” doesn’t exist, Lewis literally had abs in that match. It doesn’t matter if it makes his general conditioning better or not, it gave him an edge in the clinches as his trainer also pointed to DURING THE MATCH. The fact that Vitali tired at all says it all considering his gas tank is 20x better than Lewis’ even prime for prime. Like it or not, that extra mass helped Lewis and things wouldn’t be the same if Vitali was heavier than him. Wrestling with a heavier guy is always more tiring.

Lewis won because he was able to walk Vitali down, continuously initiate and then stand his ground in the clinches. He was getting manhandled at range. He wouldn’t be able to do that to such affect if he wasn’t heavier, he’d gas out quicker than Vitali and Vitali would have an easier time pushing him off. Even with the weight advantage Lewis could barely hold Vitali.

Yeah I’m sure you’d know all about that. Seen your h2h list recently, interesting how you had Tyson Fury at 5 but you were arguing that he was an overhyped bum in our previous talks. Looks like I was right huh? Don’t worry though, you’ll catch up and learn about this too. You are not even worth responding to.
