I sometimes go back and watch the post Fury/Wilder III meltdown with him and "Cece" Pure comedy gold.

 

That humpty dumpty looking mf was almost in tears after Wilder Fury 2. I think he deleted the video afterwards lmao.

 

The good days, back when it looked like Wilder was actually improving his boxing. But he then ended up doubling down on his right hand, and that was that.

However, I would like to mention that they clearly worked on his jab for the third Fury fight, by implementing a solid body jab which completely threw Fury off guard in the early rounds. That little change turned the third fight in to a war.

 

hopefully he gets to fight a bag when he fights next because he has zero defence, lol.

 

He built a career fighting heavy bags.

LDBC so I’ll take it with a grain of salt. They ride hard for Wilder even with his noticeable shortcomings.

 

I think that evaluation speaks more to your lack of discernment than his alleged intelligence.

 

Mmm... It kinda did, though.

Ortiz, whilst clearly skilled, never really proved he was in that top bracket... Good win, it's just not clear quite how good.

Fury, at the time of the first bout, wasn't considered to be up there either - he was a name, but given what he'd been through and how he'd looked on the comeback didn't really look like all that... The charge that it was a cherry pick gone wrong does have at minimum a superficial plausibility to it.


Then look at who he didn't fight...
Joshua was basically begging for it, giving him a good deal - didn't happen.

Whyte was desperate for it, had been WBC #1 contender for ages and Wilder openly admitted he wasn't interested in fighting him.

Povetkin he signed to fight (not that he had any choice) and was let off due.

Wlad he took no interest in.


It's not as if he went out of his way to try and take the biggest challenges possible - he held his belt quite a long time and didn't seek unifications or really fight anyone all that serious until right at the end of his reign... Sure, he was headed in the right direction, but it doesn't change that he was very carefully managed.

 

Some people are underestimating Wilder now.

Wilder may not be a smart man, but he knows how to deliver a hard punch.

Power is the last thing to go. Chisora is not difficult to hit, it's a good style match-up for Wilder.

 

Wilder was working on his jab hard for the Parker fight as well. We know what happened in the ring.
