I haven't been following it so I couldn't tell you. But what I can tell you is 90 percent of Aussie Boxers get way overhyped by our media and are actually **** all.
Right. But, I have been impressed by the best Aussie boxers in recent years. You definitely do good in Boxing for your small population. These ones are quite high in the rankings. I was wondering what these were like Ben Mahoney 16-0-1 (10) Luke Modini 12-0 (10) Kirra Ruston 8-0 (8)

Not boxing, but as an old fool glued onto the Dragons in the NRL, I'm wondering if the coach, Flanno, will see the week out after four straight losses? Manly's coach was sacked last week after three straight.
It's more like 7 in a row because Dragons lost a few on the trot at the end of 2025. Manly were only just outside the 8 last year.
Congratulations to Kalani Marra for picking up a regional title at 140 with an 8 round unanimous decision over Antoine Og Mannion. I watched on an Instagram live feed & the Kya Sparks vs Zeke Latini bout was excellent, hopefully a decent copy shows up.
I really like what I've seen from a couple of them. Luke Modini hasn't been particularly active in recent times but I was impressed with him a few years back - he's very strong, decent skills & a hard puncher. I thought I saw him in some other combat sport not so long ago (also knocking someone out) & I noticed he's fought once this year as a professional boxer. He's a southpaw & a welcome player in the big man ranks. How good is he? Good enough to fight for a world title I thought so hoping he continues with it. Kirra Ruston is very well credentialed. He represented Australia the last time we fought at an IBA world championships (in 2023) & had a couple of fights there. Some blokes got squeezed out of the national team with reduced numbers at the Olympics the following year & he was one of them. Has been far too good for everyone he's fought as a pro. Fights with the Aokuso boys would be interesting as would a fight with Max McIntyre. How good is he? Capable of beating all of them, imo. Ben Mahoney has been around for a while & is overdue a decent money step-up fight. If you want decent money in this country you need to be fighting a Tszyu so I'd like to see him in with Nikita. Otherwise he will be fighting someone else overseas for not as much. That won't benefit him or Australian boxing so hopefully something comes through for him here.
Zerafa's most recent comments regarding the Nikita farce : Zerafa admits he “panicked” in the chaos of the situation. “I get it, I said one thing and said the other in the heat of the moment, I panicked and couldn't remember if I said I couldn’t see or if it was blurry,” he explained. “I could have chosen my words better and it backfired but, in saying that, the cut wasn’t the issue, it was the actual damage to the eye and I panicked, I couldn’t see.” Does Zerafa really think that helps clear things up? Could he possibly be that thick?
