Did Floyd Mayweather duck opponents?

Ducked prime Pac and ducked Amir Khan. Floyd also talked a trainload of shyte about Golovkin and when Golovkin offered to go down in weight to face Floyd, he shat the bed.

 

Maybe Paul Williams that’s about it.

 

I would say Pac and Golovkin who I agree he talked a load of **** about and wouldn’t have fought him in a million years even if the money team put Golovkin in a Japanese POW camp for three years.
And I think he’d have beaten Pac, but wouldn’t have had the balls to face him prime for prime.

 

What about Paul Spadafora? Was this fight ever on the table and if so did Floyd duck him?

 

Floyd put a poll up on who he should fight next,Khan clearly won it,fight never happened ! I’m in no way saying Khan would have beat Floyd but that fight would have been massive with the Asian interest and certainly sold well ! I believe it would have made a good fight with Khans speed and Floyd’s defensive work,however Floyd or his Team didn’t want it .

 

Its more like he Mayweathered them. He specifically chose the "right time" to fight someone when he'd get the most credit while facing the least risk. He wouldn't face washed fighters and someone like Mosley had a belt but they wouldn't be at their peak either. Floyd also fought guys who predominantly came from the southern divisions. I think Canelos his only opponent he fought at their lowest weight class.

Honestly I'm more bummed Floyd didn't fight a guy like Porter then Amir Khan. Khan was a better opponent then Berto but the same was true of like a dozen people.

 

I’m not sure why people knock Floyd for this. He always said boxing was a business to him. Once he’d earned the right, he knew who not to fight and he knew who to fight and when to fight them. His zero was his bread and butter and he’d have been stupid to risk it. He wasn’t an exciting fighter in the eyes of casuals, so he needed something to keep people tuning in and paying for his fights. One loss would have been very damaging to his “brand”.

Fair play to him, he made a fortune. I wasn't a fan but you’ve got to respect him. He is a legit ATG who played it smart.

 

What makes me laugh about all these ducking claims.

People say a former Super Featherweight is avoiding Middleweights like Golovkin which to me is laughable quite honestly.

Not to mention people like to say Mayweather aged out Pacquiao. When infact Mayweather was older than Pacquiao being 38 years old and would retire the same year.

Where as Pacquiao continued his career after the Mayweather loss and had a considerable amount of notable performances vs Thurman, Bradley.

 

I think some the claims are overstated but the Pac fight should have happened in 2009-2011.

 

Everyone agrees with that but to think terms were not agreed as a tactic to age pac out, when Floyd was older and closer to retirement is bonkers.

to add, wasn’t a big delay because pac didn’t want testing.

 

He came out of retirement to fight Pacquiao and not Bud..

 

The Golovkin one he just talked trash about him. It’s hardly a duck for the reason you say.
Honestly I believe Floyd was scared of Pacs speed and power after he demolished Hatton and he did indeed avoid him until he felt he could beat him. Pac had been knocked out and hadn’t knocked anyone else out in 6 years prior to which he was knocking everyone out.
Floyd knew the 30 year old pac would have given him a great deal of problems, even if he hadn’t won.

 

Mayweather was 38 years old when he fought Pacquiao.

 

But Pacquaio ducked Floyd, so it didn't.

 

I personally think it was on both on them why it didn't happen but I was just stating it. I wasn't saying Floyd ducked.
