But the question in the post isn't whether Lewis should give Vitali a rematch, but whether Lewis would beat Vitali in the rematch. Most believe he would, even if they also consider him old, obese, discouraged, and well past his prime.

By the way, note that Lewis became old, obese, and discouraged the moment a new cowboy came to town, more dangerous than anyone he'd faced before and with whom many believed he had unfinished business.

You yourself stated that Haye and Stiverne didn't seem threatening to Klitschko, and Klitschko didn't seem threatening to Lewis?

It was blatant from his performance that Lewis was washed. Vitali could have taken the rematch. A hard camp could take its toll at that age, especially when he had let himself go.
But prime vs prime is all Lewis.

I agree with you because I also think the rematch would be more difficult than the first fight. Vitalij was clearly improving, and time wasn't on Lennox's side, but I'm afraid we're in the minority.

What in gods name are you on about? That's just a meaningless rant. Why did you even quote me? Is English your first language?

The troll Springwater, who has already been banned (LOL) claimed during the back and forths in here that Vitali's best win was Lewis. That is the revisionist history bud. I even singled out and quoted the comment at one stage.

Do you agree with the banned prophet that Vitali beat Lewis? Or do you think that would be revisionist history? They are yes or no questions.

Lewis had a much tougher professional career than Vitali though.

Lewis had more world title fights against significantly tougher opposition and significantly tougher fights in general aswell.

And whilst Vitali did retire at an older age which is true.

You're also missing the context that Vitali had a 4 year hiatus from boxing.

Without that he probably would've retired near enough the same age as Lewis did.

This is just speculation, though. We might as well wonder what would have happened if Vitali hadn't started with kickboxing. He spent many years in it, at one point sharing it with boxing.

Vitali had easier opponents, but there were plenty like McCall, Mercer, and Rahman, and he rarely gave them any rounds, usually outclassing them. You can only win against those in front of you, and Klitschko did it perfectly. Would he have beaten Holyfield '99? Correspondence fights with Bean, Donald, and Lewis tell me he would have only needed one fight, without a doubt.

And don't forget Vitali retired instead of facing Hasim Rahman too. So Vitali ducked Rahman going by that logic.

So what is the point you're making ?

You're saying Vitali outclassed and barely lost any rounds albeit against weaker opposition.

Which is basically what I've said ? Which is the point i'm making about Lewis having a considerably tougher professional career ?

And whilst Vitali probably wouldn't lose to the likes of McCall or Rahman.

Vitali also didn't win his 2 biggest fights of his career vs Byrd, Lewis, where as Lewis did win his biggest fights of his career.

Which is why Lewis rates above Vitali significantly in the ratings.

Which opponent that Lewis defeated would you have as a favorite against Vitalis?

I wouldn't favor any of them, but Vitali didn't lose to fighters like McCall or Rahman and he didn't fight for his life against fighters like Mercer 1996. You can fight those in front of you, and Vitali, compared to the Mercers, McCalls, Rahmans, Mavrovits, Brunos, usually fared better or much better than Lennox.

I figure if Fighter A punches holes in Fighter B’s face when he’s in half-ass shape, he probably punches holes in the guy’s face if he is in shape.

So my prediction for the rematch is: Lewis TKO 6.

All those names would be amongst Vitali's best wins that's how thin his resume is.

I suppose I'd make him 50/50 against himself.

But you can only win against those in front of you. Vitali won in dominant fashion and never let anyone beat him like Lewis did against McCall or Rahman. And he ate Mercer for breakfast. What else was he supposed to do? Beat his brother? Vitali's resume is modest, but we've seen him dominate. He'd go over the bar by a wide margin, while Lewis sometimes missed it.
