I actually think Dubois's style is bad for Itauma. There was a funny little low-key interview with Itauma confirming this. It was mainly how their lead hands counter act each other and Dubois would kind of cause Itauma to lose his rhythm. Also, Dubois is more proven than Itauma and also very dangerous offensively.
Not if he gets caught. If Wardley can catch him cold so can Itauma. Which is a shame because I really like seeing Huni box
Well yeah, obviously Itauma can catch him. But Huni isn’t without a chance as he has greater pure boxing ability. He was beating Wardley for every second of that fight until he got caught. Itauma might be very good but I am yet to be convinced. Franklin is ok but hardly a superstar.
I think Hrgovic is the perfect next step up opponent. He's arguably got the best chin in the division, he's got a very good, accurate right hand that will be the perfect weapon against the southpaw Itauma. So he should take him further than anyone else and should test that chin repeatedly. Kayabel and Parker for me is too big a step up in class right now for a fighter with only 14 fights and 3 years as a pro. Ajagba has impressed of late but I think he gets stopped early, wouldn't be a good test. Zhang is too old now and you just have to stay away for a few rounds and wait until he gasses.
I don't think Huni can beat him but he might be able to test him. You know he'd take it to Itauma, force him to fight at his pace, which Itauma isn't used to, everyone backs off, reacting to the speed and power and allows Itauma to fight at a comfortable pace. Huni wouldn't do that, he comes at you, makes you fight at his pace and has enough wrinkles in his skillset to ask questions of Itauma.
I chose Hrgovic because he's my countryman and he would have a chance to make money, Kabayel, Parker or Huni would also be great fights for Itauma...
Someone that can move their feet and is not overweight. My Boy Wardley out here taking on the real contenders of the division whilst Itauma getting put on a GOAT path for filling in Jermaine Franklin. Imagine being Usyk, packing in the top heavyweights, twice, just to be told theres a kid, whos best win is a old, body broken ass Dillian Whyte, that he is the man to beat you.
Keep him active as possible regardless. Great to watch him blasting fools with precision guided missiles for a while longer. Itauma is only 21 years old
I find it really interesting. Fighters can change hugely over a period of months, that is a fact, but even an out of shape Franklin is a decent opponent, particularly for an as was 13 fight novice. Moses record at 14 fights now has Dempsey McKean, Whyte, Wach and Franklin. His record at 14 fights looks very, very accomplished. It took Hrgovic 12 rounds I think to get rid of McKean, Wach is usually super durable, Whyte was shot but has never been hurt as badly and as early and Franklin has never been off his feet, several 'in the trade' picking him to hear the bell here. Neither Whyte nor AJ could dent him. We keep saying, what will he do against someone with ambition, the narrative being that his opponents up to now have had no ambition. I always think this is a somewhat naive view. He has not allowed his opponents any ambition. The last guy who fought him tried to fire back and take his head off but was caught with a check hook as Moses moved BACKWARDS and that separated him from his senses. Franklin sat in his corner commenting on Ituamas speed. It is hard to have ambition when you are being hit by several shots of, and this is really clever, varying levels of power and intent; this does not allow the opponent to adjust to the power, and such a variety of punches. I suspect against a come forward, aggressive fighter willing to throw leather, Ituama wins quickly and clearly. I think he'd stop Wardley right now, and I suspect he'd stop big Dan also. Kabayel might be the next best step up but I suspect he will look limited and one dimensional in with Moses. My only concern is not his chin, we might never find out about that, its his engine; and possibly his overall condition. That said, he has always huffed and puffed between rounds then looked seamless from bell to bell. His ability to pace himself, vary his attack, vary his power and glide in and out of range, ride punches is all of a much higher level than a 14 fight 'novice' should have. I wonder if he should be in the low 230s but then, he is a kid and frighteningly, he hasn't got his 'man strength' or physical maturity yet. Buckle up, lets enjoy the ride...
He is still young and HWs based in the UK often get rushed. I think Richard Torrez would be an interesting opponent Both young Both undefeated Both had 14 fights with 12KOs Fought at a similar level Both looking to advance in their careers I think this would generate alot of hype and interest for both and could possibly test the other with their respective styles
I want to see him against Opetaia, Ajagba. Huni or Richard Torrez. After that Kabayel, AJ, Fury, Dubois or Parker.
