Both were pretty durable welterweights who could punch. Brown looked a bit more impressive in his day but also took on a lot of weaker challengers. Simon’s win over Terry Norris at Jr. Middle was likely the best single win between the two men. But I think this could be close and competitive

Simon Brown all the way. Berto would be worn down for a late round bloody stoppage.

The Jamaican took out the dangerous Tyrone Trice twice (the 1st a glorious off the floor fight of the year candidate and the 2nd a one-sided pounding).

He looked superb against Jorge Vaca and Jorge Maysonet in 3 round drubbing before his unification win over the talented (and best friend) Maurice Blocker.

I don’t know much about Simon Brown, but based on resumes I’d pick him.

Brown is several levels better than Berto. Berto really wasn't very good at all.

Man, I loved Simon Brown back in the day. He could really fight. Berto had a lot of natural talent and was very impressive athletically, he seemed to lack that 2nd gear that makes a good fighter great.

For what it's worth, I don't consider Brown great either but he had a fighting spirit that makes him a fan favorite.
