I Wish there was a Foreman around today

No, Lewis was a mandatory and Bowe didn't go to purse bids. Bowe was okay with fighting Lewis once Lewis was the one with a title.

 

I've had that purse bid discussion before at one point and I'm not having that one again as if purse bids was everything, then money would not be a problem in boxing.

 

Interesting how Bowe was the only heavyweight in the early 90s tossing belts in the trash.

 

For me I wish fighters today were more active mainly.

 

Mike absolutely avoided Lewis. Paid him step-aside money once as the mandatory with the agreement he would get the next fight with Tyson, then gave up his WBC belt rather than fight him.

 

Like I said: said every old head ever. 90's was seen as shyte when they were happening as well. So it's just a nostalgia bias. Not saying 80's and 90's weren't great, they were, but were critisized the same way at the time.

 

Again, same shyte was being said about Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis etc. Ali, Foreman, Frazier were way more interesting.

 

Well, when Lewis was retiring, people were saying no way he would be spoke about in the same way as Ali, Tyson, Dempsey etc. But he is. So only way to say how Usyk, Fury, AJ etc will be spoke about is to wait 20 years.

 

I think Usyk may be viewed as Top 5 at some point. But we'll see.

 

But what about the 13 mill Lewis was offered to fight and he didn't take it?

 

I guess Wilder vs Usyk could ahve been fixed with a purse bid.
So could Mayweather vs Williams,Tsyu,Wright,Martinez
Liston vs Frazier ,Foreman.
I will remember that one and how it will fix all of boxings problems

 

Top ten at best, he simply started too late and best men that aren’t considered in the top ten and were past their best.
Sure ideally Usyk would have had Holyfields and Lewises around but he didn’t. A handful of fights isn’t enough to get top 5, as great as he is
