I have always said I though Mike ducked Evnader in the 80s. I don't believe this is the case for Lewis. And to make it more likely,Lennox got KOed by Mccall which was Mikes Sparring partner and he did it super easily too.
In which case you think Mike would be eager for the easy payday, right? He wouldn’t avoid Lennox for six freaking years and give away a title belt, would he?
avoiding Lennox for 6 years? Okay I am not responding to you and I'm putting you on ignore, you obviously don't know what you are talking about. If he avoided Lewis in the 6 years Prior; Lewis started his career in 89 and became relevant in 92. the year Mike went to Prison. Mike comes out in 95 and gets a belt in 96. If it is the 6 years after 96; He lost to Holyfield in 97 and came back in 99 after suspension needing tuneup fights then he got suspended again after Golota and fought once more then he fought Lewis. He had no belts between 97-01. Lennox lewis to you is the god of all fighters, that got KOed by 2 nobodies and went life and death with guys like Shannon Briggs,Frank Bruno that nearly KOed him, and his claim to fame is beating old fighters and winning on a cut against 1 fighter. Great fighter, everyone supposedly ducked him. I am literally here saying Mike ducked evander for 2 years as Evander was his mandatory for 2 years. They had a fight set up in 1992 and it went brewing to1996 and even though I do believe Mike was taking Evander as he was looking like he was shot and was easy. And Evander looked like he was on the brink of retirement so it makes sense why Mike would fight him first. I find it hard to believe the Lewis was this super avoided guy everyone likes to believe he was and he just priced himself out of fights. People cry purse bids, but Now what I want you to do, is to solve every money problem in boxing with purse bids. Cause if it is this easy, there would be no money disputes, yet there is
And one last thing before I put you on ignore as I just can't handle this stupidity much more. In boxing as of 1996, Lennox Lewis had no name value. Lennox Lewis best purse was 3 million at that time. Mike Tyson's wrost purse was against Mathis of 10 million. Holyfield I think at worst that time earned 5 million. at that point, if you are a challenger, you should be taking whatever money I give you and you should shut up,because you bring nothing to the table. There, ignore
Agreed. It's really baffling to see how much Lewis is seen as the White Knight of the division, whereas he was a man very difficult to negotiate with. Also, when he became the true champion, he did exactly what he reproched Bowe and Tyson to do, by being stripped of the WBA belt and purely and simply relinquishing the IBF belt (invoking a myriad of excuses while doing so).
Dropping belts to not fight John Ruiz and Chris Byrd isn’t the same as doing it to not fight Lennox Lewis.
Refusing a career high purse each time you were supposed to fight the champion (offers which were called "very good" or "fair deal" by Lewis' camp) is not a duck commited by them. And it's not like 1992 and 1996's versions of Lewis were as marketable/highly regarded as 1999-2003 Lewis.
There is such a gentleman. His name Oleksandr Usyk. He just did it across two weight classes, as some of those men might have done today.
Good thing they invented mandatories so the top challenger doesn’t get robbed by the champ’s promoter. Unfortunately, they can’t make the champ fight him — they ordered Tyson to fight Lewis, but they couldn’t stop him giving up the belt and running like a *****. Took six years for Lennox to track him down.
