I know ProBox TV gets a lot of love from boxing fans for providing free, competitive boxing events on YouTube, but IBA (International Boxing Association) also has free, competitive events on YouTube under its relatively new professional promotion. The IBA has also been holding amateur bouts for a long time, helping shine a light on some great amateurs. What are your thoughts on the IBA?
I've watched bits and pieces of the last two IBA Pro events on YouTube. Good fights, good music in between rounds, the commentator is solid, and the camera man always gives the ring girls plenty of attention. You can't go wrong in my opinion...and it's free!
They are still the same crooks as before. Olympic boxing was almost ruined when it was under their watch. Still, you have to let bygones be bygones, there is some effort to change what has happened in the past. Although IBA is trying to emulate what Zuffa is doing, by having their own belt, which is pretty lame.
With the exception of David Surov's first pro fight, the handful of fights I've watched have seemed to be well matched. When compared with some of the dodgy decisions, stoppages and poor matchmaking regularly seen on British and German cards, the IBA Pro fights seems pretty solid to me. Is there something I'm missing? Or is it something in their past?
