Mendoza from the RBR seemed to get robbed by the judges in his last fight vs Tellez, he lost a close fight vs Bohachuk where he came in as a late replacement then lost a close-ish fight to Tim Tszyu. Should he retire? I don't know that's up to him. The list of boxers that hold on for far too long is far too long for me to list obviously. But Mendoza appears to still be competitive in high profile matchups. The goal isn't always to win world titles otherwise we should probably be for the retirement of every boxer on earth with the exception of a few hundred guys.
Tszyu absolutely did not "batter" him. If you want to see someone battered then watch Fundora vs Tszyu 2.
Yes he did. Mendoza's face was ****ed. He also couldn't breathe during the fight such was the intense pace Tszyu set.
Mendoza hardly won a single round against Bohachuk, He maybe won 3 rounds againstTellez, A close-ish fight against the over hyped Tszyu is hardly anything to be excited about. Mendozas claim to fame was when he iced Fundora. Fundora in his last two fights has shown how over hyped Tszyu was, followed by stopping a washed and shot Thurman. Mendoza is now a stepping stone for any super welter looking to climb into the top 30 rankings.
So he should retire because he lost 8-4 to a contender in one of the toughest divisions in boxing and quite probably not be a champion in that division? If he's taken too many bad beatings yes maybe he should hang them up but we could also make that case for thousands of guys who get hit in the head every week for way less money than Mendoza is making and have absolutely no shot at being a champion
