I don't think he is overrated, but I do think he is probably one of the luckier boxers.

Despite the absurd Marciano dig, the rest is insightful. The names didn't have to be great, because they were big, hard-hitting guys who could turn a fight on dime.

What "faults" can you find in Louis' resume? Other than his loss to Schmeling, which he avenged decisively.

So you will give Trevor Berbick for beating Ali lol.
You will say Kevin Mcbride beat Mike Tyson

But I guess I will start.

Lennox beat Vitali on a cut lol. And Vitali was ahead on the cards. Lewis refused to give him the rematch. on the judges scorecards, Vitali was a head. So he knew he got lucky.

Holyfield's wins are better than Lewis wins. And Lewis losses are worse than Holyfields losses. Doesn't matter if you avenged them. There is a difference between losing to 2 nobodies than it is to losing to Bowe and Moorer. Beating Mike Tyosn in 1996 when Mike was still somewhat motivated , is better than the Tyson that was there for just the payday.

Holmes had better opposition than Lewis. Outside of Mike,Vitali Evander. There is not much there. I mean there were good fighters, just not great fighters. Granted Holmes didn't have the bestest of the best either. But by your logic, Holmes beat Muhammad Ali and a win against Ali is more relevant than Mike,Vitali,Evander.

Surely? Most of the common rivals of other ATGs rank higher than Lewis. Even McCall said his best rival was the 46-year-old Holmes. Bruno, Biggs, Botha, and Ruddock preferred Tyson over Lewis. Tucker only chose Lewis. Holyfield over Bowe, Tyson over Holyfield. Expert journalists and commentators also usually rank him much lower than online fans. So if he's underrated, it's much more by the experts. Casually, he's ranked higher.

    And? A win's a win especially a legit stoppage.

Holyfield never established himself as the best of his era losing the series to Bowe and later Lewis. That should def count against him.

Holmes opposition wasn't the best. His best wins are Norton, Witherspoon, Weaver and Cooney and he struggled against all of them. That doesn't measure up to Holyfield and Vitali. Not to mention Lewis's other wins over Ruddock, Tucker, Bruno, Morrison, Mercer, Golota, Briggs etc. Sorry but Lewis' resume runs circles around Holmes. And no, wins are evaluated based on how good the opponent was when you beat them. Ali was sick and pretty much done when Holmes beat him. All the guys Lewis beat were, despite past their best, still pretty good when he beat them. Hence why he gets credit for beating them.

I am sure you are a good guy, but I just can't talk to people about boxing who says sensless things like this

No one is perfect not even the greatest heavyweight of all-time.
There are better boxers then Lewis but he’s bigger then them and there are some as big or bigger that he is a better boxer then. Thats what makes an all-time great heavyweight champ plain and simple.

I rate him number 3 all-time at HW.

    H2H, probably number 2.

He moved into the upper echelon with Surprising speed what he did in the mid to late 90's. That guy was huge, and though a little bit klutzy, he learned to box very well. Surprising speed that could really cut an opponent.. for the win. He's a bit lucky to get Holyfield when he did.. but so was 25 yr old Bowe.

    Overrated.
Resume is the same if not worse than Marciano's.
Based on looking clumsy against Tony Tuckers ghost and struggling with Bruno , he would badly struggle if not lose against Joe Bugner and Kenny Norton.
Played hardball against Bowe in negotiations.
Cotto took the short end against Sergio for WBC. Canleo took the short end against Cotto.
Some guys did whatever it took to get title shot.
Lewis wasn't one of them guys.
Colluded with Don King to force title-drop by Bowe so he could pick it out of the bin and defend it againt the drugged out remains of Tucker.
Got stripped of every belt he ever won.
Accepted step aside money against 96 Tyson
Threatened a court battle against 2002 Tyson over rematch.
Overrated business man with carefully managed career.
Fought the best guys at the end if their careers.
