5 HOF southpaws who have been involved in some well known fights although perhaps they fall just short of ATG status. Who would you say has the best resume out of the 5 mentioned and how would you rank them from Best to Worst?

    1. Camacho (most talented, could have been so much more)
    2. Tarver ( best single win) Roy Jones KO
    3. Nunn (best run of title defences) before losing to Toney ,he beat Tate, Roldan, Kalambay, Barkley, Starling and Curry all of them back to back.
    4. Moorer (two weight champion, First southpaw heavyweight champ)
    5. Hamed ( maybe he should be higher but I have him last. Easily the most explosive yet flawed)

You’re underrating the quality of Hamed’s wins and overrating Ninn’s. Curry and Starling weren’t significant at 160. Roldan had nothing on a guy like the Pocket Rocket. Tate was decent, but not better than guys like Vazquez, Kelley, and Medina. Barkley was a pretty average champion, worse than Bungu among others. So that leaves Kalambay, who wasn’t any better than Tom Johnson. I’m probably leaving out some good Hamed wins.

I fully admit to being harsh on Hamed. While I acknowledge his talent, I'm simply not a fan of the guy. Sure he had a combination of speed and power that doesn't come along often but his most effective trait was his awkwardness imo.

Nunn's run was impressive because of the sheer difficulty of those opponents in how very different they all were. I think most would agree with you on Hamed having the more impressive wins but the run Nunn had was against very difficult guys too beat and the type of guys that most were not lining up to face regardless of whether it was their best weight class or not. Nunn was slicker than snake**** and only a true legendary fighter like Toney was beating him at that time.

I have no problem with anyone rating Hamed over Nunn but I'm not going too. Nunn came back from his loss to Toney to win more titles and Hamed packed it in after Barrera beat him.

I get the h2h arguments. But his resume hinges on Kalambay and Toney smoked him. There’s not much depth outside of that.

I get the argument that Starling and Curry were not at their best at 160 but that run at that time was impressive. Prime Nunn was a scary good fighter and held in very high regard by just about everyone in those days. His resume was much more than Kalambay. He was a stellar amateur that won multiple national titles and he upset Virgil Hill in the amateurs despite being two weightclasses below him. Boxing folks knew him well. He also came within a whisker of being a three weight champion but lost a split decision in Germany to Rocchigiani in a fight that most thought he won.

He was a lot like Camacho in that he was his own worst enemy.

Tarver doesn’t beat a prime Jones , Nunn beat the better calibre of fighters, Tarver beat a shot Roy and lives off it

That’s feelings based sentiment. Go watch the Del Valle fight (don’t look up to he result). Something happens in that fight that suggests Tarver may have beaten any version of Jones. You’ll know when you see it.
