Makes me laugh that the options are 'no' or 'yes Itauma is overrated'. You can think Itauma goes all twelve rounds with Parker and still not think Itauma is overrated. Until he lost to Wardley - in a fighter Parker was winning, ended by questionable stoppage - Parker was considered the #2 heavyweight and had only been knocked out by Joyce after a war. Parker would be a tough one for Moses, but then again Parker is a Nearly Man who always looks good on the way up but then finds a way to screw up at the last hurdle.

Did you see him against wardley? He didn't lose because he couldn't take wardleys glancing shots. He lost because he couldn't throw more than two or three punches a round towards the end.

He got overwhelmed on stamina against joyce, but i don't hold that against him, since that is joyces style - dubois had more stamina in his fight against joyce though.

He had sich low activity against zhang that he should have lost the fight in my eyes - you have to actually punch the opponent to win rounds, it is not enough to stay on the outside and move and look controlled.

Many other fights where his Activity dropped in later parts of the fight, like whyte if i remember correctly.

And to top it off - my argument was meant to be that parker isn't the fighter to put his opponent under stamina-pressure and then finish them in the later rounds. He often went twelve, but i don't remember him pushing the gas to get someone out at the end (apart from whyte when he regained his breath and whyte was exhausted).

And since he is like 20 pounds heavier under andy lee, this didn't do wonders for his stamina either. I could think of many other Fighters that i would worry more about to put itauma under pressure towards a ko in the later rounds.

Bonus for itauma: in the franklin fight he Started with ridiculous pace. Did you see the frequency of his attacks? He fought like a middleweight. Beautiful, but not sustainable at his weight. The franklin experience should help him pace himself better next time. But also he will pace himself better when he and his team know that there is an opponent to be taken seriously this way. Not featherfisted with good stamina. Only way I see itauma lose unless he goes against usyk, kabayel, dubois and the like.

Yeah but Fury was a slow burn. Did Fury get the benefit of sparring world class champions during his debut and pre-pro years? No he didn't. He never got any good sparring really, he had to spar his god damn brother for the John McDermott fight....That's how bad things were. Meanwhile Itauma has got to spar Usyk, Fury, AJ, Parker, Dubious, Joyce, Bakole and many many many more world class operators almost all of them! For many rounds which is a big deal. Usyk & Fury never got that benefit, Even AJ didn't get that benefit. although Usyk did get to spar Wlad once...Wlad refused to spar Fury, Mike Perez who never amounted to anything was the best man Fury got to spar back pre-debut.

I'm not trying to slate Ituama, but he should move with the market for his own benefit not wait around or in 2/3 years time the belts will just end up landing in his lap against nobodies who nobody cares about.

Parker has a poor record against British Heavyweights.

Lost to Joshua, Wardley, Whyte, Joyce.

Should've lost the 1st fight to Chisora.

H.Fury fight was very close aswell.

Itauma based on the eye test and the fact Parker doesn't historically do well vs British Heavyweights could stop Parker yes.

But that's also me jumping the gun without seeing Itauma actually tested.

At this age and stage of Parker's career? I think Ituama can catch Parker if a sloth like Wardley can.

All fighters activity drops off over 12 rounds. Even Usyk does it.

It's a really weird criticism to level at Parker when Itauma almost gassed himself out in 3 rounds and had to significantly dial it back in round 4.

Reports are that Itauma is now targeting Michael Hunter. He said the fight, "makes sense."

Let me repeat that: Michael Hunter.

He's #1 for Wardley AND Gassiev. Gassiev's camp has called him out repeatedly.

He talks Usyk, ducks Sanchez, Wardley and Gassiev, and targets Franklin and Hunter.

I'm going to go out on a limb here as say that Parker beats him, at least right now. Whether he corrects whatever his hidden flaw is, I don't know.

Wardley is tied up with Dubios, and would Itauma actually get any credit for beating Gassiev or Sanchez?

Michael Hunter is an atrocious opponent for him though, I'll give you that. He needs to fight someone better unless he's using it as a keep busy fight while he waits for Hrgovic or something.

They've clearly for what ever reason changed their mind about the WBA route
But you really seem annoyed he won't fight Gassiev

Fighters change direction loads and it can admittedly be annoying

I mean look at Uysk currently, changes mind weekly

Hunters a poor opponent at this stage granted but might give him more rounds

The Wardley fight just isn't happening with them in the same camp
If Dubois beats him, the you might see a different avenue open up

But that's not what this thread is about. It's whether Parker can take Itauma the distance, which I think he could if he fought smart

    Agreed :)
Parker is obviously one of the most likely to succeed.
