Who is your favorite world champions who have a journeyman record ?

Glen Johnson would be high on my list as close to how I think you're defining it as I can get.

Gotta give Kelvin Seabrooks a shout here.

He WAS a journeyman and then kind of caught fire mid-career when he settled in at bantamweight after fighting a lot of too-heavy or just-too-good-for-him-at-the-time guys, mostly on short notice.

True action fighter with no real promotional backing, always a B-sider, but broke through and for a time was up there with anyone at 118 in the late 1980s.

Ended up 28-22, but you can shave off everything starting in 1990 (taking paydays on the road, back to fighting bigger guys, cashing in as he won just one of his last eight with several KO losses) after his second KO loss to Orlando Canizales.

 

I was a big Jhonny Gonzalez fan. He had skills.He was always competitive, always tried hard and always put on a good show.

Out of the fighters listed Jhonny Gonzalez and Orlando Salido for me. Although I wouldn't consider those guys having "jouneyman" record at all.

Guys like Victor Rabanales, Freddie Pendleton, Glen Johnson, Livingstone Bramble have records that look "journeyman"-like due to having more than 20 losses despite being world champs at one point.

 

Don’t know enough about guys on your list. My vote is Jersey Joe Walcott. He had no management until end of ww2 taking fights on short notice little time to train even forced at times to take dives like a lot of black fighters before end of WW 2.

I was just about to say the exact same thing. And the guy could punch. KO wins over Montiel, Vorapin , Pastrano, and Too Sharp Johnson are pretty impressive. And, just when it looked like he was all but finished, he shocked a prime Abner Mares in one. What a fighter!
