Who is the most overrated heavyweight, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, or others?

Ali learned to box at Joe Martins gym believe the gentleman’s name was. He started at 12 and got good fundamentals there. There was another boxing club run by a black trainer he felt had his boys doing more advanced things and the young Ali would go to him at night. Then he was brought along as a top international amateur and of course won gold at a time when there were many communist fighters competing who were actually professionals and the best in the world at that type of fighting. You combine that with a 1 in a million natural athlete you have someone with fantastic boxing skills. Best boxing skills of any heavyweight ever. If Ali had a weakness was he didn’t have tremendous power.

Ali might have gone to those gyms, but he certainly did not learn his fundamentals very well.
He did not know:
- how to duck, he pulled back or sidestepped.
- how to parry or to block a jab. He held his right hand out to the side and did not have it in position to block a jab. That is why he had problems with fighters like Jones and Norton, who had a good left jab.
- how to properly throw an uppercut. He threw a right uppercut from the outside and dropped his right hand every time before he threw it. This is why he was vulnerable to the left hook throughout his career.
All of these flaws are there for you to see on the footage we have of him.

He won due to his physical skills, not due to being more skilled.
