I had Saavendra up, he was just busier. That stoppage initially looked a little early but seeing the replay and seeing him do the chicken dance, I think the ref was justified.

 

BS stoppage. It’s called boxing. Fighters get hurt. Let them fight through it or at least let the guy go sown.

 

To be honest, from the replay it looked like Bentley was pinging his head back, he was on jelly legs and was just going to take more punishment if the ref didn't jump in. Looked an OK stoppage to me

 

Last night a Brit was allowed to get knocked down 4 times in a fight, 3 times in a single round, get beaten back and blue, and the ref would not stop it.

Now in a world title fight the referee jumps in the moment the foreigner is hurt? Yea, **** that and **** the BBBofC.

I think as far as British stoppages go this was not the worst, counted about 12 unanswered punches, although some more touching the head than really punching it. I think Saveedra would have gone in this round eventually, but I'll just say there are countries where this fight does not get stopped at this time .

 

It’s not a British stoppage exactly. Kabayel fought in Germany and that was also a very early stoppage.

 

When you see the Crolla fight last night whose ass got put down 4 times….compared to this, I do feel ashamed to be a Brit sometimes.

 

I am on a flight to Fort Lauderdale. Got the guys in role behind me watching this. We just pulled to gate when the stoppage happen.

 

You know if it was Bentley in trouble, Foster would be helping him back to his corner a la Kovalev vs Cleverly. British boxing refs are a cadre of corrupt old boys.

 

Basically, in British boxing if you get hurt, you have to immediately go down or the ref will stop the fight.
You are not allowed to be hurt and defend yourself, you have to go down or the fight is called off.

 

Honestly, it wasn't bad. Saveedra wasn't throwing anything back and wasn't defending himself well. You take a series of clean shots unanswered while giving ground and getting backed to the ropes, you put yourself in a position to have the fight stopped.Should have held or taken a knee.

Not the worst stoppage but would that have been allowed to carry on if roles were reversed?
