British Referee Was A Disgrace In Wilder-Chisora

He may have some 'splaining to do to his masters.

Bang on. Actually any time Wilder had momentum and was landing shots, the turd just stepped in and separated them. I think it's the most blatant biased reffing I have possibly watched. Usually with a homie ref, there's a couple of incidents. Every ****ing time with this guy. He actually made me want Wilder to win. I could never forgive anybody for that.

 

In the HBO commentary Roy Jones said "that's home cookin'"

 

"For you, the day Bates ruined your fight was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Saturday."

 

British boxing officials are corrupt! I would refuse to fight there.

If he was not simply inept, which is in itself unforgivable given the stakes involved, he must have been corrupt. Terrible refereeing.

 

This is all too common. It was farcical.

The referee was completely blind to both sides, not just Chisora's. Overall, the fight was extremely strange for long stretches, and I had to get up from the screen several times to take a break. Chaos and a lack of control, strange behavior, and also strange counts after knockdowns that weren't from punches but from slips or shoves. But to the point. The situations in Chisora's favor have already been mentioned, but it's also worth noting that Wilder constantly held Chisora in a clinch, and many minutes of the fight consisted of a struggle in the grip, to which the referee either didn't react or reacted very slowly. This ended most of Derek's attacks, even when he managed to get close to Wilder. Furthermore, this resulted in a lot of blows to the back of the head, which was outrageous on both sides (not just Derek's, as Wilder suggested). Wilder's arm-holding and the jostling led to bizarre situations where they were lying on the ropes, punching each other like in MMA... Furthermore, Wilder pushed Chisora and threw him over the ropes not with punches but with pushing... Ring chaos is the first word that comes to mind. The referee was completely unable or unwilling to grasp it. I also don't understand Wilder's complacency after his performance. Of course, he started telling himself he spared Chisora because he liked him, but in reality, he should have been regularly jabbing the sluggish and slow Dereck and landing his legendary right hand in time. A strange fight, with a ton of dirt on both sides and perhaps the refereeing intentionally protective of Chisora.
