Was also an Olympic medalist and went 28 bouts undefeatd before challenging Bowe. The only people who had him flat were Lewis, Brewster and Adamek.

Vitali stacking up wins for C level fighters doesn't make up for it imo

 

Lewis has the better set of wins. It isn't really that close, IMO.

 

In Furys own way he outclassed a legend who had been champion for 9 years and had not lost in 11 years

Yes Wladimir Klitschko and 3 Wilder fights plus Whyte plus Chisora plus 2 strong performances vs Usyk are better than Vitalis fake alphabet secondary title wins

Out of all of these Vitali is probably the best singular win then the two wins over Fury, then the two wins over Holyfield then the two wins over Joshua. So overall Lewis has the lead here in terms of top wins Vitali and Holyfield are better then Fury and Joshua overall. After that though gets a bit closer but overall would have to say Lewis has the better wins.

Fury nearly won every single round vs Wlad

He negated all of Wlads offense

The fight was dull but the facts are the facts

Lewis I say but relatively close.

 

However, we are talking about the best victories, not the worst defeats.

 

Lennox beat 20 HW contenders, minor HW champions in Tommy Morrison and Lionel Butler and EBU/Commonwealth double winner Derek Williams. Usyks beaten 4 or 5 HW contenders and Michael Hunter.

After Bowe, Moorer and old Foreman/Holmes Lennox beat most of the next 20 best HWs of his era.

Usyk has 8 wins over comparable fighters(Duboisx2, Furyx2, Joshuax2, Gassiev, Hunter, Chisora). Of those 8 Usyks only knocked out Dubois and lost at least 4 rounds in 5 of his 7 decisions. Without rematches you couldn't fill out a top 7 so these are the only choices and I'm counting two CWs in Gassiev and Hunter. Lennox has about a dozen HW title stoppages and lopsided decisions over Mavrovic and Tua. Thats at least 14 good choices to 4 and it would be 14 to 2 without the Cruisers.

While Gassiev, Hunter and Chisora have all resided in various ABC top 10s they are not top 10 for their period and could be argued to be outside the top 20. By contrast Lennox has 6 or 7 of the top 10 and like 15 of 20, 20 something out of 30.

While Dubois, AJ, Fury are top 5 fighters in Usyks era accomplishment wise the validity of that is a house of cards given how many undefeated contenders never got a chance to fight them or Usyk. The best didn't fight the best in Lennoxs era but the group of champions proved they were the best by beating everyone else. So much so the era is top heavy because so few got wins over that group. Most regional fighters got a real chance to prove they were or weren't the best. Theres no real proof Usyk, Dubois, AJ and Fury stand tall over Kabayel, Frank Sanchez, Hrgovic, Bakole or John Doe. None. Zero. How can we rank anything from this era historically if we don't have the eras heirarchy figured out?

 

It was actually BOTH of those things.

Wlad is one of the Greatest heavyweights ever, who was in arguably the most dominant HW reign ever.

It was a boring fight I'd never want to watch it again. However anyway of winning against someone who was so dominant and so used to winning for over 11 years is impressive. Fury used unconventional tactics to win. He did what he needed to do to win, regardless of how boring it made the fight to watch - that doesn't matter. Everybody in the heavyweight division was facing Wlad and getting knocked out or outpointed easily. Fury went to his backyard as the huge underdog and befuddled him. No one saw that coming, and he deserves the utmost respect for getting the historic win. You just sound like a hater for trying to minimize it.

 

This isn’t exactly accurate. I attended the Jennings vs Wlad fight and Wlad had slipped noticeably in my estimation during that bout. It was his 18th straight title defense but it was clear his reflexes were sliding, however I didn’t think Fury would be the one to beat Wlad. That’s because I also attended the Fury vs Cunningham fight, and it was my first time seeing Fury, I was not impressed. He got dropped pretty hard and really had to fight rough and a little dirty to pull out the win. That bout that was supposed to be a showcase for him state side. So in short Wlad was slipping and Fury fought the best fight of his life, and pulled the trick off, congrats to him. Still wish he could have kept his head on and given Wlad a rematch.
I will say this Fury has a high ring IQ, he has changed game plans to suit opponents and has also changed them within the course of fight when plan A doesn’t work. Smart fighter. Tough guy too. Squandered his legacy somewhat by lack of discipline and maybe not wanting to risk the good life when he had it.

 

This is what I'm saying

The facts are Fury mentally broke Wlad down and completely negated his offense

People saying otherwise are only trying to discredit it because they don't like Fury

 

The only problem I have with that is today's cruisers are bigger than yesterday's heavies. A fighter like Quarry would be a mid size cruiser today
