Current Anthony Joshua vs. George Foreman from Axel Schulz fight.

Old George Foreman is a bit of a myth. Essentially, he lost to every really good fighter he fought during his comeback except for Moorer and he was getting killed in that one until his one big moment. Current Anthony Joshua is certainly not what he was eight or nine years ago either physically or mentally.

What makes this match up interesting Is the mental aspect. Physically AJ is definitely better than George of the Schulz fight. Mentally, old George is about as tough as they come and Joshua is definitely something other than that. I’m gonna go with Joshua by decision because George was so slow at that point.

 

Despite all of that he still ate many shots from hard hitters and the combinations Holyfield landed would lay joshua out. Foreman with his "terrible defense" has gotten hurt and floored less times than aj. Dubois dropped him with the first right hand he landed.

A prime Foreman will walk joshua down just like Dubois and Ruiz did and joshua isn't as fleetfooded as the smaller heavys lol. He would get stopped brutally, that would be the outcome regardless of how much of a fight he puts up because stylistically he doesn't fare well against pressure fighters, let alone ones with KO power and a much better chin than him

I never said joshua couldn't outbox this version of Foreman. I said has almost no shot at scoring a KO, and joshua is quite chinny himself. No way Dubois would destroy and dismantle comeback Foreman in that fashion, it would never happen

 

2017 AJ kills old George Foreman.

 

He didn't KO Ruiz and he doesn't fare well against pressure fighters, Ruiz and Dubois knocked out a prime joshua and Foreman can consistently take joshuas punch, but joshua can't take his. aj would box for several rounds and then get his brains scrambled with a power punch, and this isn't a prime Foreman

 

Old Foreman had life and death with Alex Stewart and got outboxed by Schulz and Morrison. AJ would be just fine. Kills him in the ring.

 

Joshua couldn't KO Franklin, needed a gift stoppage against Takam and got blasted out by Ruiz and Dubois in his prime. Will never trust joshua against a hard hitting pressure fighter, it never ended well, thats why he never fought Chisora

 

Still would whoop that old ass.

 

Lyle got Foreman after a long layoff, after the most devastating loss of his career, and after switching trainers. That was the very same Lyle both Shavers and Foreman named the hardest punchers to ever hit them, while Joe Bugner recalled him nearly killing him while past it.

Old Foreman liked them big, muscled bound—tough looking but with suspect chin. He said so himself, and he built early hype of his comeback career. Big targets to land on as opposed to smaller heavies bending at the waist and cycling on their bikes.

Alex Stewart was more compact, explosive, and cagey than Joshua when he got his stuff together, and if we want to disparage based on how fast a man knocked him out, then Moorer did it twice as fast as Holyfield.

Not sure if Foreman manages to catch Joshua, but he sure as hell was a legit contender, at least leading up to the Holyfield fight.
