That's a pretty good take and consistent with what happened when Tzysu lost. Vince Phillips wore him out and stopped in the 10th and he straight up quit after getting mauled by Ricky Hatton for 11 rounds. I like Tzysu and am not talking bad about him, but when he couldn't dictate the pace, he lost. Kind of like @The Cryptkeeper
Any competent referee would have DQed Ricky "hit and hold" Hatton in that fight. At minimum he would have been deducted at least three points.
I agree Ricky was certainly rough on the inside and could have lost a a point, but a DQ is a little too much. He did a masterful job neutralizing the right hand. Watch this video. I thought Tzysu was going to destroy Hatton but Hatton deserves all the credit in the world for how he beat Koysta. Even though I was arguing with that Cryptkeeper moron on this thread, I am a fan of Tzysu, I just don't think he is as good as Mosely. This content is protected
That’s not the point. Mosley is a completely different and much more powerful guy at 154 than at 135. I’ve already conceded that he’d beat Tszyu at that weight. Tszyu was never going to move up because he was a natural 140 fighter. He never really had to cut so wasn’t compromised. Mosley went up a couple of divisions largely because it was lucrative but also because he would make weight comfortably. Common sense tells you that at 140 he’s not as strong as he was at 154. Your question really is predicated on the mythical fight being at 154 but that’s never going to happen. I’ll add, so we are clear that Tszyu wouldn’t have beaten ODLH at 154 either. But at 140, at his natural size he is at an advantage against Mosley who never fought anyone at 135 who had Tszyu’s weapons, and never even fought at 140. In fact, I think ODLH vs Tszyu at 140 would have been an absolute banger.
1) ahh, the old Vince Phillips argument. Well I guess we can dismiss most of the greats then. Tyson lost to Douglas etc…this wasn’t prime Tszyu and you know it. And he came back a much better fighter afterwards. 2) I don’t subscribe to the triangle theory either but when you watch that video the class difference is immense. I am merely pointing out that those who think Mosley obliterates Tszyu have a ready formline through at least one common opponent.
Yep so Forrest losing to a crude fighter like Mayorga not once but twice must mean Forrest was no good either lol.
Hey dip ****. You do know that Vince Phillips lost just about everyone round to Vernon Forrest when they fought. You know, the same Vince Phillips that knocked out your man crush Koysta Tzysu. You can stop using your whole Tzysu beat Forrest so he would beat Mosley take. The two fights were less than three years and four fights apart.
The problem is KT did not fight like this in the pros for some reason maybe relied a little too much on his power ?
I think this is a reasonable point. Early in his professional career he did tend to box a lot more, and we saw elements of this later on too (the second fight with Sharmba Mitchell is a good example) but you are right in saying that he did somewhat fall in love with his own power which meant he got into a couple of wars that he could have avoided. Hurtado being a classic example. But I do predicate my opinion that it is the best version of both fighters at a particular weight, and I am giving Tszyu a leg up that the fight is at 140, because it’s the only division he ever fought at. Does he beat Mosley at 147-154? Nope. But at 140 against any fighter of that era I have him as a favourite. The exception of course is Mayweather…but even then Tszyu’s power gives him a reasonable chance if he can catch FMJ and slow him down.
Yeah because 140 pound fighters knock out 154 founders all the time in boxing. GTFO! Tzysu never left 140. What a stupid take.
I'm not understanding the argument from some people here. Mosley was a menace at 135. He also competed very well at 147. And even moved up to 154. So why wouldn't Mosley be just as effective at 140 ? Mosley had an iron chin, good power, very quick hands. He would be Tszyu's toughest opponent of his professional career by quite some margin. Tzysu's best win is against Judah who let's be real is not on the same level as a prime Mosley.
