That was all worse than the Bellew Haye debacle after the Flores fight. Joshua pretending that’s why he wasn’t there was excruciating. The arrogant, “I am the boss” stuff made it worse. Stay humble.

 

Let’s be real Fury tried to stack the cards in his favour by calling for the fight next, he knows that Joshua will need a tune up fight before facing him, Fury was pushing hard because he knew that, but it would suit Fury to make it next because he will still be benefiting from the cycle he did when he was ‘retired’
He’s retired every time so he can get a cycle of nandrolone into his system, he’s got a freezer full of wild boar carcasses that he can whip out incase he’s got his timing wrong.
The guy is a walking blag, he did however look pretty decent considering he hadn’t fought in a while, but I think he probably beats Joshua and he does it before they even get in the ring, Joshua is a faker and he doesn’t have any natural aggression he looked like he had tears in his eyes.
It was an embarrassing exchange from both of them, Joshua would have gotten the credit for having the upper hand in the verbal exchange until he accused fury of being a clout chaser, I was nearly sick in my mouth, he never fails to make me cringe.

Don’t worry I have not forgotten. I have regularly reminded people on here about Fury’s drug cheating. Likes of him and Canelo get a pass but Whyte, Miller and Benn don’t. Nothing worse than double standards.

 

100 percent and I’m of the opinion that if you cheat once then, you will cheat again.
So based on that logic I assume that any fighter that has been caught cheating by taking peds is that they have have cheated in every fight, it’s the only reasonable assumption to make, to believe the inverse that it was a one off mistake they would have to have taken responsibility for their actions.
I would be interested to know how many trainers are aware of involved in the taking of such substances. I think it would be naive to think that they wouldn’t be aware.

 

And remember, Joshua is not a doper because he has never been outed for doping.

I’m in the Fury was poor camp. His feet were slow, hand speed seemed to still be there but lacked any power. Makhmudov is not very good.

A couple of years ago he had a clear case to be the number 2 in the division. On last nights performance there’s 7 or 8 heavyweights I’d pick to beat him.

Being in the top 10 is no disgrace but when you’ve achieved what it’s a real fall from grace (that’s a story as old as boxing itself). For me unless he was coming back to challenge against the very best (he’s not good enough to that again in my opinion) he shouldn’t bother. The AJ fight is still massive but for me after seeing that last night there’s a good chance he gets beat. And I say that as a Fury fan and I’ve always thought it’s an easy nights work for Fury.

If last night was dusting the cobwebs off for a bit of easy cash then so be it, let’s see if he can improve significantly because I think he needs to or walk away. Certainly not interested in seeing any repeats of that one.

 

I thought Fury was okay, but i dont see 7 other HWs beating him and certainly not AJ. Fury threw some tasty uppercuts last night. I doubt AJ would have taken all those.

My take on last night at the show

- Frazer Clarke, looked improved, but another defeat. I dont really know where he goes from here. Fight someone like Fisher next?

- Riakporhe looks far more comfortable and dangerous at Heavy. Think he is good british/Euro level fighter and hopefully some good fights for defending that belt can be made

- Benn, apart from his bank balance that was a damaging night for his career, it was glaringly obvious to all that he is nowhere near world level, of course boxing fans know this but I suspect the casuals are seeing through the myth after the last couple of stinkers he's been involved in. He didn't get the Boos I expected to hear, but worse than that was the feeling of apathy towards him. Once the Ringwalk and first couple of rounds were done the crowd was flat, people around me sat on their phones or going for drinks. He gets comfortable beaten by any top level opponent, the power and energy is gone.

- Fury, he's a real showman, ill give him that, his ringwalk was probably the highlight of the show, its a real spectacle to see live. And a nice touch with the tribute to Hatton. Fight itself wasn't great, I thought he showed glimpses of quality, a few shots that showed handspeed not totally diminished, and he had Mak hurt at a couple of points but i thought he looked too easy to hit and his legs look gone to me. A LOT of fans started leaving after round 9, bored? Rushing to beat crowds at tube station? Either way, if the fights entertaining it's not something you do.

- the WWE style call out at the end was cringe. But they really lost their moment as it wasn't coming through speakers in stadium when AJ spoke, plus stadium was almost empty at this point. It will sell but the interest in this fight is waning quickly.

- Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fantastic venue, fitting of big occasions. I've been fortunate enough to go to many big sporting events but the facilities here are second to none, they also did an excellent job with the pyrotechnics etc, giving it the big event feel......just a shame it's in a seriously dodgy part of London, the walk back to the car we were looking over our shoulders!

 

He (AJ) played it bob on. Fury lost it when AJ said "You work for me".

AJ made a good point that Fury keeps retiring which always delayed the fight. Retired 5 times.

The fight will happen. Fury being his usual bombastic loud gob. AJ was right not to get drawn into a slanging match.

 

It would have been good, just once, to have had a big fight without the WWE staged hype at the end, but Joshua clearly wasn't following the script. I wonder if he was supposed to start raving at Fury, at which point the big reveal would have been announced.

As for the fight itself, Itauma, Wardley, probably Dubois and Joshua would have stopped Makhmudov. There's needing the rounds and there's not being up to the job.

 

My main take from the fight is that Fury’s legs have gone so much to the point he’s unable to fight going backwards, so anyone who can apply educated pressure will have success and possibly beat him these days.

 

That's the problem with Tottenham great venue but the area is a complete shithole and it's not easily accessible.

Dave Allen says Makhmudov was absolutely terrible and Fury not much better. I tend to agree. It was dreadful. One of the worst boxing matches I've ever seen and Fury was shocking by his standards.

 

Usyk, Dubois, Wardley, Itauma, Kabayel, Parker AJ I honestly would pick all of them to beat last nights Fury
