I didn't get the impression that Joshua doesn't want to I get the impression he has seen it all before and that until contracts are available means little
Lonely voice but I thought AJ played that just right, and I thought he came out of the exchange and interview with much more class than PT Barnum, erm, Tyson Fury. He's not jumping on the cash cow bandwagon, he's not being railroaded into a fight that can happen anytime he wants it. If anything, I thought Fury and Turki came over as a couple of no class clowns. Would have been much better to make a statement like 'Now we can see Tyson is back, there is one fight the world wants to see. We know AJ has been through a lot recently but we are ready to make this fight whenever he feels ready. We wish him all the best.' .... ....but then I like to live in a world where people are decent, thoughtful and empathetic...not the real one... peace and love always, Px
Jake Paul is an "actual pro boxer" too And he mocks that win often I don't care for AJ much but it's just another reason (at least in in his/their heads) for him and others to jump all over him
It's a fight that should be mocked. It was an awful performance from someone who's supposed to be a top heavyweight. There's no respect to be had for beating up a cruiserweight who's resume primarily consists of old men and non-boxers.
He said words to this effect when interviewed in the ring by Netflix afterwards. Which makes sense as to why he initially stayed silent when asked if he wanted the fight next, because the answer to that is No. But I think the fight will eventually happen, it makes no sense for it not to.
It's a liberty what Turki did last night tbh Hearn has said I'm many recent interviews that it won't be AJ's next fight and gave reasoning Yet they try that crap last night Turki clearly isn't used to not getting his own way
"this Fury is almost certainly worse than the one that fought Ngannou" I don't know. This Fury is 2.5 years older but he trained for Makhmudov and took him seriously, he was 10 lbs heavier against Ngannou, and no doubt saw it as an exhibition circus fight. Fury was older and more worn for Usyk 1 than he was for Ngannou but he was 16 lbs lighter and mentally fully focused. I think it was a much better version. The Fury who turned up against Abell was nowhere near as good as the Chisora 2 version etc. It's impossible to know what Ngannou's level is. He was a totally unknown quantity when he fought a physically and mentally terrible Fury, but got wiped out in Charles Martin time against Joshua (although he was much more competitive than Martin was, before he started getting knocked down). Would Ngannou have done better than Makhmudov (4-2) if he'd fought Rice, 42 Wach, 41 Takam, Kabayel, Vianello and Allen? Maybe, maybe not. And as you say, Ngannou's older now, plus he's had problems in his personal life. It's highly questionable whether he will box again, and what he will look like if he does. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...-zavier-ngannou.707678/page-103#post-22652835
What bothered me is when AJ was being interviewed and she asked about a tune up before Fury and he seemed like he liked the idea of it with his response. Then he brought up the crash and alluded to possible physical and psychological issues. So I don’t know if his heart is in it or his mind to fight anymore and he seemed annoyed with Fury trying to goad him into the ring for a face off. Could be me but it seemed like he’s not all for it for his own reasons.
They're 2nd and 3rd of their Era, behind Usyk. Suggesting any other possibility as 2nd/3rd, when they've both beat Klitschko, Fury has beat Wilder, Chisora, Makhmudov, Whyte....Joshua has beat Parker, Povetkin, Whyte, Ruiz, Pulev.....After Usyk, they have the best victories of this Era. There's a substantial drop off to Parker/Dubois/Wilder/Zhang/Kabayel/Ruiz etc. What I do know from these fighters is that Deontay Wilder DOES NOT have the resume of the 4th best HW of this Era, he doesn't have a standout with besides Ortiz, who's only other test came in defeat to Andy Ruiz. Parker is probably the 4th best HW of this Era, in terms of victories.
A reminder that as a WORLD CHAMPION, Deontay Wilder was allowed to defend his belt against Eric Molina. Trying to claim that Joshua vs Jake Paul was some kind of recognized and 'real' fight is just not true. Nobody actually considers it an actual fight to be taken seriously.
