Joshua will duck Fury to fight 41 year old Wilder next

Hearn is almost certainly lying about "Fury in December this year". Wilder is a week removed from a punishing 12 round war with Chisora at 40 years old; he's not going to be back in the ring for several months at the absolute earliest, likely 6+ months, especially for a huge fight. Then, even assuming Joshua wins easily, he'd want some rest/relaxation time after his latest training camp at 36/37 years old, and after that he'd need an extensive training camp specifically for Fury. Fury himself will likely want to stay active in the meantime, rather than spend 12+ months on the sidelines waiting for Joshua. That pushes Fury-Joshua to 2027 at the earliest.

 

AJ is a posturing bum who does what his slave master Hearn tells him to do. Which will be fight Wilder. Turki should not allow it. Cut them off dry.

 

I suspect Fury would either fight Joyce, Vianello or Miller. Maybe Ruiz if he's not retired lol.

 

If he fights him after a warm up fight then surely it can't be a duck?

 

Considering Hearn has been very vocal saying AJ will be taking a tune up fight, I'd say you were told in advance

 

Wilder is an acceptable fight for AJ too, still a lot of people want to see those 2 in the ring. Question there is, does Usyk still want to face Wilder? What exactly happened with that?

 

I don't fault AJ for wanting a tune up, but if that's what he wants why not just say it? Nobody would fault him signing for a fight at the end of the year while he goes out for a tune up.

The impression I get is that he'll just drag this out until he feels like he and Hearn has an advantage.

 

Seems to achieve the opposite of what he intends, but a fair observation.

I wouldn’t even begin to pretend to understand how a tragedy like Joshua’s one would mentally affect him, but I genuinely don’t see how fighting Wilder or any other tune up would benefit him here, as opposed to just taking the Fury fight. There’s no ring rust because he did 6 rounds in Miami against Jake Paul just 4 months ago (and was paid extremely handsomely for it). Does he really need to steamroll another overmatched opponent to get his confidence back?

I get his and Hearn’s apprehension as to whether the fight will really happen because Fury has talked a lot of BS before, but the main obstacle block (different networks and promoters) has been removed now with Netflix and Turki facilitating the fight.

If AJ remains in boxing but turns down Fury, by far his largest available payday, when the fight has been all but made by Turki and Netflix, I would consider that a duck.

 

Wild that unemployed grown men who still live in their parents bedrooms are bashing a professional athlete for not instantly taking on possibly the biggest fight of his career only 4 months after being involved in a fatal car accident.
