Glad someone else said this. Maris Breidis showed how to take on Opetaia and gave him a hard 12 rounds despite being about 50. He's got chinks in the armour and comes across to me like a cheaper version of GGG.
Azim must be having a few injury issues? 14 fights in 5 years as a pro especially when the first 6 or so are journeymen. I really thought by now we would of seen a lot more of him, only 7 fights since Feb 2023 (3), 2 in 2024 and 2 2025. With his talent, he must be frustrated the progression has not been quicker.
Great news, Zuffa just getting started but announcing a new signing almost every week. With every passing UK fight night thats a bunch of fighters getting 1 fight closer to the end of their contracts and inevitable departures, It's not going to take long to build a really exciting stable. Im guessing this could be CBS vs Opetaia for the first UK Zuffa show?
Not sure whats going off, Boxxers tv deal fiasco slowed things down, plus injuries. I dont think gambling on going to another new promotional firm is the sensible thing to do, despite what ever money they may offer.
Probably now that it's at that stage and Smith isn't trying to keep hold of a belt. I thought he was 36 but that's in August. It'll be biggest money time with one or two more. I never had him down as a belt holder so he's done well. Fit, tough, determined, but in my opinion quite boring.
Maybe so, but fighters seem scared of Opetaia and it doesn't seem warranted. CBS doesn't seem the type to scare easily so good luck to him. Assume he's being signed to be fed to Opetaia and give himself retirement money in the first place.
