Justis Huni is just excellent

If the judges had been from neutral countries, Huni would have won by wide decision.

 

I don't think the guys excellent but by this logic an excellent boxer only wins in the manner you mention

Not often we get a fighter like that

 

He's a tidy enough boxer but he just doesn't have the grit to hang with the top guys in the division

 

That's a really interesting match up. Parker is on the decline imo, but would probably still pose a threat to Huni. I reckon it would do big numbers in Oceania too.

 

But Clarke is about English level. Lerena who had Huni on jelly legs would be about British title/Euro contender level if he were from the UK. Aside from doing well against Wardley I've seen him box only two other times. Once against a tall Australian that he outboxed but the opponent was awful. Another time was against some random guy on the Opetaia undercard in Australia or New Zealand, winning by KO.

I think he's a good boxer and good enough to be in and around the world contender level but he doesn't seem excellent based upon anything he has done up to this point. His chin seems dodgy for a guy who physically does have a massive chin that looks like it would break knuckles.

I think Huni has always had the tools to beat Joe Parker & have said as much on here for a long time. I always said that when Huni was undefeated though which he now isn't. If you're Parker, you would have to back yourself to land something big at some point & get it done. Good fight, should happen but I've noticed there has never been much interest in it from the Kiwis. I think they're afraid of seeing their guy lose to an Australian. And you're right, it would do big numbers in this part of the world. The Kiwis might be shaking like leaves on a tree, but they would still tune in to watch. They would go to ground before the fight though & not talk it up on here like the Aussie boys.

Huni is a decent boxer but he has his limitations.

I'm still a bit concerned from his performance against Lerena even if he looked fantastic for a few rounds against Wardley.

 

I'm Australian & thought Lerena was robbed.

 

He put a schooling on Wardley and looked fantastic until he didn’t and the fight ended. He does have fantastic technical skill and punches in combination really well when he’s in the zone. But he can’t really put an opponent away and with his chin (though to be fair Wardley has awesome fight ending power and Lerena has a sneaky hurtful punch) he can probably only go so far.

 

Parker has had bigger fish to fry than Huni. They're now crossing over as Huni gets some name recognition and Parker lost his last fight. I didn't see anything from Huni that would scare Parker on the weekend - although Huni could outwork him for a decision. Parker would actually have the power advantage going into it which hasn't been the case for him in a co-headline fight for a long time.

 

School's in for Big Joe if he steps in with Justis. Australian boxing will reign supreme in the South Pacific. Kiwi fans should get ready to bend the knee & count to three.
