I think the most amazing thing about Ruiz beating Joshua is not that he could beat him, it's how ineffective Ruiz's career has been since, and how Joshua has taken advantage of opportunities and fighting guys and staying in the scene as Ruiz disappeared. This is a case of Ruiz matchmaking or promoter or something just blowing a good thing.

 

Douglas, Sanders, and Moorer were kind of the same compared to the guys they beat.

Tarver: forget knockouts, he ended the careers of Chris Johnson and Lincoln Carter, and ended the primes of Eric Harding and Roy Jones.

Tarver was in the amateurs LONGER then Jones was and still ended up going to the Olympics ONCE just like Roy did. And he still couldn't reach the finals.

 

You have absolutely no idea what your talking about and it shows. Eric Harding couldn't stay in the gym and liked to run the streets Tarver didn't finish anyone off because Harding was a part time boxer basically. He fought what four times in FOUR YEARS after the Tarver rematch.
And if you look at Hardings record even when he was coming up as an unbeaten prospect there are times when he's inactive for years and there is a reason for that.
Lou has a knockout percentage of over 60% I assure you he could punch. Matter of fact I believe that both Lou and Antonio have the same exact number of knock outs .
There was a reason why most top trainers did not want anything to do with Antonio when he turned pro and it had nothing to do with Jones even though Antonio always tried that BS blaming Roy for this or that.

 

Roy Jones Jr won the Val Barker Trophy for most outstanding boxer in the Olympics … without winning gold.

Literally the collective wisdom of the judges and officials was that him getting robbed was so outrageous that they ‘overturned’ it by naming him the absolute best guy.

You cannot find a 10-second clip of Roy Jr in the final that you can make an intellectually honest argument that he lost, much less a round or the entire fight. It’s the most blatantly bad decision in the history of boxing imo.

And if he had gotten a just decision and won gold, he would have won the Val Barker anyway.

Tarver damned sure didn’t win any award for being best boxer at the Olympics, lol.

He won gold at the World Championships (Olympic equivalent), gold at Pan Am, and bronze at the Olympics losing (officially at least) in a barnburner to Jirov who won the Val Barker trophy.

Jones never even fought in Pan Am or the World Championships.
