Holding a crappy belt by itself means nothing though. Franklins performance against Joshua was highly impressive

If they fight Hrgovic or the Wardley/Dubois winner that would be a big improvement over Gassiev and suggest they found a better opponent to fight.

    No more no less

I'd argue he looked better against Whyte

And a losing effort is not a better achievement that winning a secondary HW title

Franklin did what he does (normally) which is survive
At no point did he look like winning against AJ

Not when he got it from beating up a 44 year old Pulev, who should realistically be retired.

    Course it is

    A title is a title

Not a great victory sure but he held what the other wanted

    Survival against AJ is better?

    Give me a break

In my opinion it is better. Gassiev lost to Otto Wallin and had to beat up a 44 year old, who is well and truly beyond shot, for a "title".

When Gassiev has a meaningful victory at heavyweight, I'll consider it better than surviving against AJ.

So a title means little to you?

It's a lesser title admittedly but losing a fight is a far lesser sporting achievement than winning any kind of title

Franklin would have loved the opportunity but he knows he is an opponent now so looks for such pay days and has no ambition

I'm not Gassiev's biggest fan but he clearly saw a route to right some of his previous failure at HW and took it

Lesser titles don't mean that much to me, no. But each to their own.

I think you have a fair point and I get where you're coming from, but until Gassiev does more than pinch a trinket from a 44 year old that Itauma would blast out in 1 round, Franklin remains the better, more proven operator.

Again, not the point. They wanted WBA regular when it was Puelv, they want no part whne it's Gassiev.

And there is no evidence he's getting in there with anyone you cited.

    By losing?

Franklin doesn't exactly have a stand out win even

    Neither does Gassiev.

    See, we'll disagree here
Dispite the opponent, a solid title win is a signiture win

Whereas Franklin is known as an opponent solely these days

It's a placeholder belt. I think you're putting a bit too much value on it.

Hell, I'd rate Franklins last win over ancient Pulev

But I'm not, I've clearly said earlier it's what you say
A belt regardless is better than a loss esp one that doesn't propel a career

You mean the win where Franklin should have lost?
    Judges were drunk

Same could be said about Whyte winning over Franklin. It's boxing
