So, if AJ makes 20 more fights, and he gets KOed in all those 20 fights because of heavy shots, you'll say: "oh, his chin is fine, those heavy shots would KO any boxer. Let's not judge his chin from these KO losses alone"?

 

Coincides with my observations. Jake Paul was good for his purse but such an abysmal choice of opponent and a rigged fight to boot.

Joshua has my sympathies for the car crash, but lost all respect for his career from me. He has a history of taking 'tune ups' one after the other. Usyk was a surprise, ruiz was a surprise. Klitschko was a challenge when he was on his way up. Where are the real challenges in his career?

He has Millions of followers and big ad contracts but sacrificed part of a possible cradible career. Obviously he was an important figure in boxing for a long time, but in hindsight his career is very much less than what it could have been.

His base is his followers, not the dent he made in actual boxing history by his own chase of greatness. He is marketable, not great.

And at this point he is maximizing money and not career value. I can't Overlook that. losing against dubois amidst many mediocre fights. Now comes a tune up, then an irrelevant money fight against fury. Whatever...

AJ doesn't have a glass chin. If he did he'd be getting knocked out in every fight. He's only been stopped in two of them. Where he wasn't done in with one shot in either of them. It took his opponents beating him up and knocking him down over and over to get him out of there.

Lennox Lewis got sparked out cold twice in his career from one shot. Did he have a glass chin?

 

He has had plenty of opportunities to fight him again since the loss.

Joshua did ring Dubois and ask him if it was ok to call himself the Landlord !

 

And there are plenty of reasons to not immediately jump back in the ring with a guy who KO'd you. Doesn't mean that match is forever off the table.

Also, have there really been plenty of opportunities to make that fight happen? Dubois KOs AJ in late September of '24. Dubois almost immediately gets scheduled to fight Parker. Who he backs out of fighting due to an illness, but which was really Usyk agreeing to rematch him. Then he fights Usyk in July of last year and gets knocked out himself. So when was this fight supposed to get scheduled? Sometime last year when Dubois was recovering, leaving Don Charles, finding a new trainer, going back to Don Charles, etc.?

Seems like it was immediately rematch Dubois or the fight wasn't really on the table. Dubois certainly wasn't going to pass up Usyk to fight AJ again.

As an aside, I really don't care about AJ one way or the other, but it's weird that so many of you seem to really despise him. You'll support a drug cheat and generally terrible person to the ends of the earth, but a goofy dude like AJ who has done nothing but be a solid, if a bit cringe, fighter has ya'll constantly trying to belittle his achievements. Like Morvidus here is homo-erotically talking about AJ needing to fight Dubois to be the ultimate male or some odd nonsense. It's weird. Does he upset you because he's good looking, filthy rich, and makes Fury look bad by having fought tougher competition? That's the only thing I can think of.
