...according to Ade Oladipo. Jump to 4:31. He wants Verhouvan, Wardley-Duobis winner, and Fury, but that isn't it. He just wants those three next.

He just doesn't know. In the last year and a half or so, he has said...

Maybe return to cruiser.

Hard to keep up with Usyk at the moment; he changes his mind every other day. It should be Kayabel, Wardley, then Itauma if he notches up a couple of top 10 wins. If Dubois beats Wardley, Dubois vs Usyk 3 is pointless, but not as pointless as this Verhoeven fight. He hasn't got much left, though, and the longer he postpones retirement, the more likely he is to lose to somebody like Wardley or Itauma.

 

Respectfully, what in his last three fights says to you he hasn't got much left?

 

He will follow where the money leads in suppose is the more reliable indicator

 

You could argue though that having retirement active in your mind while preparing for a fight is not a good thing lol

 

The point is that he doesn't.

 

Health and money are key in whatever steps he will take. Hope he sticks around for a little while.

Usyk, even slowed, beats them all. But he’s not peak. I really want him to finish on top.

 

He's definitely slowed, but is also growing into the weight. Much like Ali, I see him having second prime.

No clue why he wants to fight Fury again aside from the money factor? I've never heard someone who has 2 wins over someone request a 3rd.

If by some chance Fury won the 3rd he'd use that to claim he was always better than Usyk despite the still losing record against him.

 

I am concerned for his brain health. While he has excellent defense, he has taken some huge hits to the head. He isn't exactly Willie Pep and even Pep ended up with dementia.

Usyk took huge rights from Joshua in both fights, took some big uppercuts from Fury, took several jolting right hands from Breidis, plus the fights with Beterbiev, etc.

Why he wants to risk his long term health is beyond me. He is unlikely to score early ko's unless he is fighting someone who is an easy stylistic match up for him like Dubois.

Put Usyk against Kabayel or Wardley. Usyk probably beats them but not without taking damage.

Fighting Fury a third time is pointless. Usyk won both fights 8-4. Neither decision was debatable. The only thing we will see from a third Usyk-Fury fight will be another comprehensive Usyk win and both guys taking unnecessary brain damage.

The fights vs Wardley and Kabayel at least have some merit from a boxing standpoint. But to take unnecessary damage fighting Fury, etc. is insane.

I hate to see great fighters end up slurring their words later in life. He has his health. Hopefully the damage he has taken does not show up 20-30 years from now.

His mother even asked him to retire. I don't get it. I do not want to see such a great man ending up like Toney.

 

No mention of Kabayel who Usyk agreed to fight next to get the exemption from the WBC to fight Rico in the first place,hopefully not another vacated belt .

 

Because the money that another Fury fight earns Usyk is magnitudes more than what any other opponent would bring to the table

Usyk is the undisputed best in the division, but Fury remains the money fighter of the division

 

Fury 2.0 and most of the forum will lap it up too.
