If you compared Ali and Foreman and his common opponents you would think George is better. Trialangle theories don't work. Plus you probably don't think AJ is better than Fury just because he usually was better against common opponents.

    Which common opponent?
    For who? Fury and Mcdermott?

This narrative that Fury didn't train for the MMA fighter is tosh really
He might not have trained as hard but he definitely trained

Fury still deserves a fairly high spot based on resume and accomplishments. I don't think you should lose your ranking because a magazine editor thinks you might lose.

Realistically though, Fury didn't look great. That opponent was really unskilled, and Fury was still getting tagged by telegraphed haymakers occasionally. I think the reflexes are going.

AJ fight feels a bit 50/50 again to me. Maybe even slightly favoring AJ believe it or not.

Usyk is the best fighter in the division. The second best, in my view, is the one who performed better.

AJ wasn't really that competitive outside of one round and Dubios quit twice. Yeah you could argue triangle theory but that doesn't stop AJ fans from crapping on about Ngannou and Wallin.

That aside, Fury still has the better accomplishments with his victories over Wlad and Wilder ending two long title reigns. I can't see any of the top 10 pulling the same thing off with the exception of Usyk.

He obviously didn't take it seriously at all which contributed to such a lack luster performance. Fight shouldn't have even taken place though, because look at the absolute circus that followed.

I thought I was taking crazy pills when all these commentators were talking about how impressive it was Fury won the 12th round. Like, he absolutely didn't. I've watched that fight about a dozen times. Slowed it down on YouTube, watched people doing punch analysis on it, etc. Usyk dominates the 12th round. Fury spends the entire round (just like rounds 10 and 11 and most of the fight really) desperately trying to get away from Usyk. Usyk is landing basically at will while hardly anything is coming back. Hell, at one point Fury tries to tie up and Usyk hurls him into the turnbuckle.

I think the judges all knew that it didn't matter on their cards if they gave the round to Fury. Metcalfe was the ringer so his card HAD to have Fury winning. Which is why he gave BOTH the 11th and 12th to Fury. Like, I'm sorry, but even the biggest Fury homers don't give him BOTH those rounds. The other two judges realize that Usyk wins on their cards even if they give Fury the 12th. So it just makes for a better show. Makes the fight look closer than it was, sells the rematch, and saves some face for Fury who just got seven shades of **** beat out of him.

    Usyk/Joshua 2 was competitive.
He gave Usyk a hard fight

    Once again it is debatable
I rate Fury's win over Wladimir as the best win between them (Fury/Joshua) but Joshua didn't have the opportunity to equal it as Fury didn't defend any of the titles and retired.
Joshua also scored a win over Wladimir.
You could argue Joshua's win over Parker above the Wilder win for Fury or the Povetkin win

It really depends how you choose to view it
I think it is fairly even with Joshua and Fury.

    I really don't know
If you watch the round without any commentary it doesn't seem dramatic at all

AJ was very competetive in the rematch for the first 9 rounds. He was actually outlanding Usyk. But then, Usyk showed how superior of a fighter he was.

You are the one who introduced the triangle theory to this thread. You can't have it both ways.

Wilder could have been dethroned earlier if he didn't duck anybody with a pulse. But yes, dethroning Wlad was an accomplishment. Too bad he stained it by ducking the rematch.

    1. AJ did not outland Usyk lol, he got dominated twice through volume and skill.

    2. Neither can you.

    3. If it was that easy someone else would have done it. And "duck" Wlad? He did nothing to deserve a rematch to begin with, Fury retired and was stripped of the belts letting the division move on while he went on his meltdown.

    1. He was outlanding Usyk after 9 rounds in the rematch. That means he was competetive.

    2. Yeah, but I wasn't arguing based on the triangle theory. It was your point that I countered.

    3. There was a rematch clause and Fury ducked the rematch, simple as that.

You'd be in the minority then, because AJ wasn't competitive against Usyk at all outside of one round where he gassed himself out.

Fury retired and was stripped of his belts. That's not a duck however you want to spin it. Outcome would have been the same anyway because Wlad showed absolutely nothing if the first match.

Well, if outlanding your opponent isn't a sign of being competetive, then I don't know what is, lol.

Wouldas don't exist. Fury knew Wlad was off in the first fight and probably didn't want to fight him again. Yes, he was stripped, but he still held a distinction of the lineal champion.
