You know the look. Both eyes and cheekbones swollen from taking repeated blows. Facial cuts, the whole nine yards. I would imagine most champions have a victim or two like that, but how about Salvador Sanchez? You look at the faces of the guys he beat, Danny "little red" lopez twice, Juan LaPorte, Wilfredo Gomez, Pat Cowdell, to name a few. All of them suffer some serious facial damage. If if you look at this video, you will see what I mean. I don't recall ever seeing a boxer land so many clean hard head shots. Does anyone? I'd put Sanchez up against anybody. Such a shame that his career ended suddenly at the age of 24, having put together a record of 46-0 including 10 title defenses against a very tough featherweight division. This content is protected
Muhammed Ali wasn't quite on Sanchez's level of destructive face realignment, but he was very, very close. See Cooper, Frazier, Foreman, and Terrell for example. Especially when considering he wasn't considered a power puncher. Ali put a lot of bumps and bruises on his opponents. He did sting like a bee......
Indeed. Reminds me of Margarito wrecking Cotto's face in their first fight...which looks a little suspicious in hindsight. Chavez did that regularly. Amazing.
Hi Buddy. For sure Ali did have a good Jab, I would describe it more like a hard thumping punch, as opposed to sharp and quick, but more than that was his follow up straight right, again also a heavy hard punch, for a " non-puncher " he certainly hurt and stopped some big strong men. stay safe fbear, chat soon. Mike.
