Pacquaio vs Inoue - Who has the greater legacy

He had just two fights w/ over 1,000 thrown.

Pac threw a 1000+ punches against Joshua Clottey, who's defensive style it to BLOCK. Mayweather has historically caused his opponents to generally throw less. And he evades, not block punches like Clottey.

He also threw 1000+ versus Margarito, whose defense was essentially just his tough chin.

Apples and oranges there.

Not apples and oranges. If you compare the time between fights, an argument can be had. But the fighting styles shouldn't mean output goes from 1,200 to 400. Something else was going on too. Perhaps, as humans age and the entire history of boxing suggests, boxers cant throw an unlimited number of punches. Perhaps that 400-punch Manny is far closer to his natural apex than the 1200-punch Manny who climbed ~2-3 weight classes while increasing speed and stamina and seemingly having no drop in power.

Afraid of needles just doesnt hold water in light of all the circumstantial evidence. I love Manny and he's a bonafide ATG. I'm not convinced Floyd beats 2009 Manny. I'm also not convinced 2009 Manny was clean.

Inoue may wind up having a better career, but he would need to unify at 126 and win a token belt at 130.

 

You don't fight every opponent in the same way. You know that, so why are we having this discussion? Many threw 1000+ ONLY twice. Why are you acting as if 1000 punches thrown was his norm? And once again, when guys fight Floyd, their own output drops a lot. Research dude.

You realize Manny never said he was afraid of needles. I can only guess that all of you posters who have repeated that, and there's been a lot, don't do much research. Bob Arum said that. Manny said getting blood drawn so close to fight night weakens him. Which is perfectly fair.

Manny Pacquiao is the ONLY BOXER in history to be "champion" in eight divisions. EIGHT. He holds the record for being champion across EIGHT DIVISIONS. Do you know how many divisions a boxer has to be champion in to be 2nd place? FIVE. Floyd, DLH, SRL were all champs across FIVE divisions and thats SECOND most EVER.

Manny, Mr Im Afraid of Needles with 60 tattoos, who needed a cutoff date for drug testing, who was ascending weight divisions faster than anyone could keep up with his progressive BACKNE, who drank mysterious Ariza "supplements"...had as much circumstantial evidence that could possibly exist outside of literal used needles.

Anyone with more than 1 individual brain cell can identify that Manny very likely, almost definitively, used PEDs. Which type and how much and for how long are the only remaining unknowns. Even for a simpleton like yourself, understand the laws of nature apply to everyone. No fighter can increase stamina, speed, and power - theyre inherently tradeoffs. And when someone does that, WHILE ascending world record weight classes, multiple alarms trigger.

Pac started pro at a much lower weight and YOUNGER than those guys. As a matter of fact, Floyd at 16 weighed about the same as Pac at 16. Again, you can look all that up.

Anyhow, did you know, you didnt bc I'm mocking you, of ALL COMPUBOX FIGHTS WHERE AT LEAST 1 FIGHTER THREW 1,000+ PUNCHES............ONLY TWO OF THEM HAPPENED BEYOND A FIGHTERS 3RD WEIGHT DIVISION...both were PacROID - Clottey and Margs fights.

No SINGLE other fight where a fighter threw 1k+ punches happened beyond that fighters initial or 2nd division. Yet Manny did it in his 7th and 8th divisions.

You're conflating things a little.

My first point was with regards to how highly some modern fans rank Pacquiao i.e. number one of all-time, or at least a lock for the top ten. At best, I'd have him around 20. That's a big difference. Of course, Inoue has got some serious work to do if he's to approach the top 20 of all-time. Still, it's worth making the distinction. If I truly believed Pacquiao ranked as highly as some do, Inoue would probably have to clean out 135, 140 and 147 to rank higher.

Your comment that Inoue's best win being an aged Donaire sums up the spirit of my argument. Inoue is a bit underrated. Pacquiao, a liitle overrated. The Japanese may very well never rank as high as Manny, but he's just about cleaned out 122 and many are still shrugging. More is expected of the Japanese than of any other active fighter. If he dominates Nakatani (which would be his best win), many will insist he jumps to 130 or beyond.
