Terence Crawford vs Rocky Marciano

Consider how easy it was for Madrimov to land his right hand on Crawford.

Now consider that Marciano has the single hardest right hand that any fighter weighing 190 lbs or less in the history of boxing.

Marciano hits much much harder than Canelo. Canelo had relatively quick hands but was never a truly devestating puncher, even at 160 and 168 lbs.

Marciano was a freak of a puncher. How is Crawford going to deal with the work rate of Rocky? This isn't Canelo where Canelo will throw a handful of punches and maintain a low work rate.

This is a 187 lb machine who will throw 600-700 punches in 9-10 rounds. This dude on boxrec counted how many punches Marciano threw vs Moore in 9 rounds. I am assuming he is correct. Crawford has no escape. He isn't going to be able to deter Marciano from coming forward. Does Crawford hit harder than Archie Moore, a dude with nearly 130 knockouts?

Marciano will hit everything, shoulders, arms, body, air, etc. Crawford will take a brutal beating and get knocked out.

Let me guess: Crawford would beat Archie Moore, too right? A man almost unanimously regarded as a top 4 light-heavyweight champion of all time.

What's next? Crawford is also beating Bob Foster too, appearently. And Dwight Qawi and Michael Moorer too while we are at it.

It amazes me that a guy who had 1 fight above 154 lbs is all of a sudden a favourite to beat fighters who spent their entire careers fighting 180-210 lb men. Goodness gracious.

 

I know this has probably been brought up in the past, but has the Forum considered matching up fantasy fights by weight as opposed to division? The in-ring weight difference between eras is pretty staggering.

This would leave heavyweight matchups in a bit of a muddle I would suppose.

I don't think he'd touch Crawford. Too slick. Too young. Too athletic.

He'd probably do better against an Antonio Margarito type who wants to stay in the trenches. That'd be a good fight. 50-50.
