Benjamin Whittaker vs. Braian Nahuel Suarez & Joseph McGrail vs. Aaron Hayden RBR.

I had a night off on Saturday so I took my husband out to dinner. It turned out to be a sensible decision

Since switching to Matchroom, Whitaker has faced 2 completely incompetent opponents. As someone else writes : A waste of time

 

They are going to have to put him in with someone who's got a pulse next surely, just for the sake of his own development. Lyndon Arthur, Craig Richards, Willy Hutchinson. There are plenty of good fighters he should be realisticly fighting next.

 

Zach Parker another.

 

Hard to disagree to be honest.

He needs activity more than anything. Long camps and low output might work at the top level, but he needs rounds, not just gym work. Otherwise he’s peaking in camp and not gaining the experience he’ll need when it matters.

There’s talent there, reminds me of DeGale, but with this level of opposition it’s impossible to gauge. Big risk he stagnates unless they step him up, but that feels unlikely with Hearn needing a new box-office Ben(n).

 

Surely they will look get him VS Arthur sooner than later. Solid fighter in an around world level maybe just lacking that xtra something but he should go rounds and he's rangy and carries some threat.

Whittaker needs rounds, another quick win fine but he's looked sharp after the 1st Cameron fight. Time to put the foot down because when he puts it together he looks really sharp.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if they put him in with Eubank Jr at some point; Jr is shot to bits but still has a big name, and the strategy of fighting stiffs before making bank against Eubank Jr worked well for Benn.

 

I could see this because it'd be box office "beef" without Whittaker having to do very much. Wait for the Matchroom pivot to "Eubank's a natural light heavy" after 3 years of "he fights at 160 Koogs"...

 

I don't believe a fight against Eubank Jr will become a reality.

By the way : There will probably be a lot of talk but I wonder if Matchroom will match him against a hopeless club fighter in the US ?

 

Did they not threaten this before, only to have him beef up the undercard for last weekend's show?
