Probably lost 1 or 2 vs Marquez Beat Hatton a year and a half after Floyd flogged him. Same with Mosely. Beat an overrated Margerito and Cotto and a washed up Oscar after Floyd also beat him. How many divisions did he fight it? With the help of steroids. Mayweather schooled him. He ain't got **** on Floyd.
A lot of Marquez legacy is based on the Pacquiao fights. He would be held in much lower esteem without them. So it seems like circular reasoning to give Pacquiao a lot of credit for beating a guy whose legacy is so heavily based on giving Pacquiao problems
You can say that about literally anyone. If Frazier never fought Ali his career wouldn't look the same. If Bowe never fought Holyfield his career wouldn't look the same. And so on and so on. Marquez still had a very good career without the Pacquiao fights. And Pacquiao would still have an ATG career without fighting Marquez. So what you're saying literally makes no sense. You're saying if rivals never fought each other throughout history their careers wouldn't look as esteem ? Will duh that's the whole point of having good rivals ? It elevates careers ?
I don't think Pacquiao is overrated and I don't think Inoue is underrated. There was a poll in the classic forum recently and alot had Pacquiao rated amongst the top 20 or top 15 which is about right IMO. Inoue is rated very highly in regards to his achievements and the eye test. But he hasn't got the resume or opponents on his resume, so he still falls quite a long way short of Pacquiao in the all time P4P rankings which is also fair. If Inoue beats Nakatani then he closes the gap but he would still have to do quite a significant amount more to pass Pacquiao for me.
So why cite it as some amazing win? If Freddie Norwood and Chris John can beat Marquez than he shouldn't have been a problem for Pacquiao He would have had a good career without Pacquiao but many wouldn't classify it as great
I never cited it as an amazing win ? Quote me where I said that ? I said Pacquiao has a better resume overall ? I never once stated beating Marquez was an amazing win ? Norwood/John were highly controversial decisions the Norwood one especially was a foul filled messy fight. That's also a silly analogy you're basically saying styles don't make fights ? And as I've already said many fighters throughout history have elevated their careers having rivals. Take away Frazier's win over Ali his career would look significantly different. As would 100s of other fighters. So what's the point you're making exactly ? By taking away everyone's stand out win throughout history alot of fighters wouldn't be considered great ? What you're saying is very silly the fact is Marquez is considered a great end of.
The majority will surely go with Pacquiao. World titles in 8 weight classes and many top names in their prime to go with that.
