Three of our amateurs fought at the World Boxing Cup in Brazil overnight & this morning. I caught a couple of the fights. Marlon Sevehon fought very well against a decent Kazakh at Light Heavy. Hit him with a really good right hand early which was a blessing & a curse. He got the other guy's respect but made him very cautious from then on. Not much love for us from three of the judges. One scored the fight to Marlon. I certainly thought he had the better of the third round & was very competitive in the other two. Good performance. One of the stars of the team is Junior Middle Lekeisha Pergoliti. She was up against a very good Brazilian opponent but really put it on her in rounds two & three to take the win. Very entertaining fight. Anyone who doesn't like watching women's boxing should take a look at that one b/c it was a banger. Up against a Brazilian in Brazil I thought they might dud her but they didn't. Well, three of the judges didn't & that's all she needed. I missed Monique Suraci's fight at Bantamweight. She was up against the #1 seeded American & lost a UD. She hasn't had much luck with the draw in these tournaments but needs to maintain the high level of performances she displayed to get picked on the team. Do that & results at tournaments like this will change when she gets a better draw. Congrats to Marlon & Lekeisha on their performances. Great ambassadors for Australian boxing.
Can Sir Jackson England beat the Kazahk and propel himself for a shot at O'Shaquie Foster? Big Fight In Perth in June. I'd go to it but I don't want to be surrounded by bogans. Perth should be its own country. Or when Jackson England wins a world title change Perth's name to Jacksonville.
Both great performances. Sevehon was closer than the cards read. I just wish Pergoliti would stop that signalling "scored shots" raised arm motion. Dont believe it does favours with judges, waste of energy and predictable habits like that can leave herself to be read. Jye Dixon and Jacob Cassar up next, great to watch.
Perth is a great place and the bogans are mostly "would be if they could be's" and not very hard to put in their place. Heaps more bogans in the Gong than WA.
Don't tell me you're a Perthite? I reckon People in Perth should have to pay an additional 10 percent tax just because they're from there. As I said they should be their own country.
Gawd, how cringy is the lead commentator on the Stan show. No wonder Matchroom dropped him from their Australian shows
Tim Tszyu has sacked Pedro Diaz and put Jeff Fenech in charge. I am actually happy with this Pedro is an overpaid hack amateur coach.
Good. I told you guys Diaz was no good for Tim. I seen it in his training it's old school amateur ****. His pad work is box in close and run. It's garbage.
I've got a good feeling about this move. I think Tim can Excel. We should see him not look like a scrawny musceless twig which he has become under Diaz. Diaz shoukd stick to training Grey Hounds.
I was just going to post yesterday that I didn't trust Altamura either. Looks dodgy as ****. Not that the Rose brose are any different.
