I think he was scared of wilder for a while but with Fury it just didn’t seem to fit with fury’s returns from retirement (retirement = ped cycles) let’s not forget that Fury is a proven cheat lads
I think so. Both parties actually seem interested. No one needs to see either with Usyk IMO. An obstacle like Wilder (If AJ chooses him as a warm up) could derail it on a lucky punch. But I don't see AJ having too much issues with Deontay.
Wilder would be his best in win like 7 years. You see NO possible issues? He's fought at a low level of competition for a long time.
This isn't the same Wilder from even just a few years ago. Not to mention he looked terrible in his win over Chisora. Hard to imagine WIlder's technique looking even worse then normal, but it did IMO.
I think Usyk wants Fury as his final fight for the big payday, maybe AJ if Fury were to lose to him, regardless of how we feel unfortunately. Wilder v AJ is a lot closer than a lot of people think. Wilder still has a lot of durability and grit, and we're not quite sure which version of AJ turns up. Good fight to make, but risks derailing Fury v AJ from ever happening.
He actually looked far better than I expected, especially against Chisoras style. It was an ugly, scrappy fight but ultimately Wilder held up, showed a lot of improvements and gave a solid account of himself. Mixing uppercuts into his game was nice to see, but its a shame we don't see more of his power jabs because they're really effective when he uses them.
I thought a lot of his punches looked amateurish. Little pop in em and more flung out then thrown properly.
Fair, though fbf if someone like Chisora was bullrushing you you'd just be flinging them out as well lol. Not everyone can handle him like Fury and Usyk did.
Can you recall when Fury called out Usyk after the Chisora 3 fight and then fought Ngannou instead, then the Usyk fight didn't happen at the first date and then got delayed again I take it all with a pinch of salt until contracts are sent agreed and signed
Joshua always needs a tuneup before he fights Wilder. Hearn and Joshua were at the Wilder-Chisora fight to cheer when Wilder - the underdog, the myth, the guy who 'never really' had power - lost again. Instead, he punched Chisora out of the ring three times and dropped him five times (despite what the ref ruled). Now, Wilder's too "dangerous." It's a "riskier" fight. We're looking at "other names." They can't use Wilder as a tuneup because "they'd need more money than Netflix is willing to spend." And "one right hand could derail the Fury fight later in the year." For all the threads on this board talking about how Wilder was never ANYTHING. A total myth. AJ isn't looking for a tune up. He's stated he wants Wilder next. I'll go by what the boxer says, not the promoter. Not like anyone ever took Don King, Bob Arum, ODLH, Frank Warren or Al Hayom's words as gospel. If Netflix kills the fight, surely not AJ's fault.
Don't blame Netflix if they don't fight. Hearn specifically said in that clip they have the right to stage their own fight without Netflix before the Fury fight. So, let's see if they do that.
You do realise deontay wilder literally admitted he refused to fight AJ, he confirmed that he was sent the contract and his reply was I will never fight you no matter how much you offer me. He gave a very clear answer, you just didn't wanna hear it. Fury said via a mic I want to fight you, AJ said fights ain't made on a mic, they are made on paper and until he gets that paper there is no fight to accept
