Is Zhang the board's new Luis Ortiz??? Nothing on his resume, or what he's done in the ring, suggests he beats an ATG HW. HIs 'crazy' power has stopped only 22 out of 31 opponents.
Gave Hrgovic a tough fight, knocked down Parker twice and Kabayel once, and KO'd Wilder. Don't forget to mention he also cracked the best chin in the biz, Joe Joyce's. He's not top 5, but I think he's got a better resume (and power) than Ortiz.
I think he has pretty good power. Does seem to get overblown though. His stamina is what worries me the most. I do enjoy his fights though.
Big George was only big in the 70s, in the 90s he cherry picked guys smaller than him and would still lose
Haha I'd love to see Zhang vs. Ortiz actually. A true old-man battle with two guys who look even older than what they are. Can't see past a brutal Zhang KO though. Ortiz gets knocked down by light jabs nowadays.
I've liked Ortiz. He last fought last September. WTF is going on with him? Would be an interesting fight.
WTH is everyone talking about? People are really choosing Zhang to beat and KO a prime Foreman? Old Foreman beats him up horribly, he'd find the body very early. Prime Foreman destroys Zhang, they are on two completely different levels and I say that as a huge Zhang fan.
I'd take Zhang. His stamina hasn't always been terrible (many/most thought he beat Hrgovic over 12, he beat high output Joyce the first time in 6 and wasn't on the verge of collapse, and even a stone overweight older Zhang went 12 with Parker, and could've scraped a draw). Zhang has 55 lbs on Foreman, more height, more reach. Foreman was easy to hit. Zhang has quicker hands and more power. Zhang is southpaw, which Foreman had no experience against, so he's going to be getting hit more and cleaner than usual. Zhang was a high level amateur and skilled counter-puncher. He's tough and brave. There was no one in the 70's with anything close to Zhang's collection of attributes, so he's a bad matchup for Foreman who was hugely dependent on size and power advantages in his era.
Those Joyce stoppages were pretty impressive. Also stopped Wilder and got KDs on Parker and Kabayel too. A tad overrated due to his gas tank but the power is definitely there.
I'd say that's a bit bias. People seem to think the old timers were unbeatable and always will be, when in reality there's a bunch of modern heavyweights that could beat them. All it takes is a punch.
Its funny there was a famous Foreman v Zhang thread less then 2 years ago. And yet we find ourselves back here again.
Lyle wasn't better than Zhang, didn't hit as hard, and Foreman had life and death with him. Is it so outrages to think Zhang would finish the job?
By your dumb logic, Zhang went life and death with Jerry Forrest, so Foreman should beat him easily. Use your brain dude. I think people who believe Zhang could beat Prime Foreman should be banned from talking boxing.
