    Arguably the most important event in Japanese boxing history and yet this fight has gotten little attention outside Japan. You’d think an event that’s sold out the entire stadium and hardcore fans of the sport hyping it would actually capture attention for casuals, especially when it’s guaranteed to be exciting. Why aren’t they promoting this more to a wider audience?

    It's horrible to say but it's probably throwing away money
    Hardcores will be aware already and casuals won't care

    The profit is already secured at home

    There is a lot of discussions here if you live in Japan (it's my case currently) even in Kansai (even if both was not from the Kansai region), even in South Korea they talk about this boxing fight.


    I think the fight is actually more hyped in Japan (and it's the only one) who is more hyped since Hiroyuki Sakamoto vs Takanori Hatakeyama.

    The fight who was not exposed too much even in Japan was Kosei Tanaka vs Kazuto Ioka, and it was a big fight in the past because Kosei Tanaka was undefeated and three weight classes champion like Kazuto Ioka.

    Because it’s on at like 2am in the US and Mexico, and like 8am in the UK.

    it time zoned itself out of the 3 biggest markets.

    I feel like they could have at least put this out on Netflix to have it exposed to people who are just browsing. They managed to make it work with lots of viewerships. An event of this magnitude (at least in Japan) shouldn’t be overlooked and bottled up IMO. Imagine how much new fans they’ll get especially when Japanese boxing cards almost always delivers excitement.

    Sadly, because it's between two Japanese fighters, no one outside of Japan and hardcores care about it. No amount of hyping will get them interested. So they know it'll be money wasted.:ohno

    Its honestly sad this fight still feels like its going under the radar, at least here in the US. Guys like Jake Paul and Ryan Garcia garner way more hype and interest from casuals. But what is it about Japanese boxers that doesn't grab the attention of boxing fans all over the world?

    The Japanese domestic market for sports, music, games etc is so developed that they don't need to worry about marketing internationally. This bout is on a at a great time for me in the UK! If this bout is indeed a banger then it will spread in western combat sports circles anyway, so fingers crossed.

    It is two foreign fighter , lower weight class, starting at 5 am.

    Outside of Asia, only hardcore boxing fan is tuning in to this.

    It seems Ioka's always been overshadowed to some extent by other boxing stars, like Yamanaka and Yaegashi earlier in his career and Inoue, Nakatani and several others in his later run. You're there so you'd know better but it seems like his star doesn't shine as brightly as even some of the guys he's defeated (Tanaka and Yaegashi).
