There's joking around and then there's just plain disrespect

 

It is unlikely that Ali would’ve won either of those fights. The reality is that he essentially had nothing left. His physical skills were diminishing. He was not nearly what he used to be. There was nothing about the Berbick fight that made me think he could go on to beat other relatively top fighters of that time.

Ali had been a little tired for Holmes in their first. In a rematch he would have taught ol Larry what jabbing was all about. His incredible footwork and amazing speed would have broken Holmes down until: Ali wins by KO in the 10th.

Ali would have used his incredible toughness and amazing chin against Tyson. He would have rope a doped Tyson for 10 rounds until Mike, exhausted from trying to pound on a granite wall, loses by KO in the 10th.

Ali would have used his trash talking and menacing aura against Bowe. Bowe would have wilted before Ali's incredible wit and amazing studliness. He would have been all confused in there and would have taken a terrible pounding until Ali wins by KO in the 10th.

People think Lewis would have been a challenge for Ali. They are wrong. Ali would have fused all the aforementioned powers into becoming the invincible fighter. Like a super sayian Goku type.

Given that Ali has the speed edge, the edge in reach because he KOd Liston, the chin edge because Shavers clobbered him and couldn't stop him and the power edge because he KOd Sonny Liston and the charisma edge because he would have taken a toy lion and punched it in a news conference while saying "this ain't no lion, lenny is dyin' in zion" ... Lewis would be severely at a disadvantage. Ali would start fast and win, KO1.

That's how it would go.

Then he'd spank Wlad too.

Ali aged horribly. Not like Holmes or Foreman. If Ali aged like Holmes, I'd give him a real shot. Imagine 43 year old Ali fighting prime Ray Mercer

I know Ray wasn't the greatest heavyweight but can you imagine the beating he gives that Ali??

 

No Ali didn't put up a fine performance against Berbick.
It was more competitive than Holmes (not hard to do let's be honest), but he was still sluggish, and getting knocked about by Trevor.
His great chin and heart kept him in the game until the last bell.
