Anthony Joshua v Kristian Prenga

I would say its more the mental side than the physical side.

 

Is an opponent like this even useful for a tune up? Especially in a build up to a fight with Fury?

I'm already seeing Chisora 4 jokes popping up but even that's better than whoever the hell this guy is.

Joshua will destroy him, Kristian Prenga has a protected career and has only faced journeymen.
That's a good fight for make a impressive comeback for Joshua I think.

 

Dawejko damaged his arm and quit in the fight with Prenga, there was no KO.

But Prenga is always in good physical shape and he has stopped his opponents in all his wins. His only loss was a home referee decision in the Netherlands which he actually deserved to win. So he's not quite as poor of an opponent as some are saying.

 

Joshua showed class in the Usyk 2 post-fight when he threw the belts out the ring & went on a 10-minute rant talking nonsense. One of the most embarassing moments in boxing history.

 

Everyone with a heartbeat and any credentials whatsoever would have quickly been removed from the possibilities list.

As I've said all along, they will choose the worst level guy they think they can get away with and they did.

They could have at least chosen someone who could give Joshua rounds. This guy has never even done rounds.

 

For those wanting to see AJ vs Fury, then despite Prenga not being a fighter even a lot of boxing fans were aware of, view it for what it is a warm up fight for AJ prior to facing Fury, plus a opportunity for the money men to build the AJ vs Fury bout.

 

With AJ’s Glass Jaw anything is possible.

 

Hearn has done what everyone of us as Joshua’s Manager/Promoter would have done,look for the easiest option with low risk,anything but jeopardise the biggest earning fight of Joshua’s whole career. We can ***** on here with each other about this pick and we can argue on here with each other about this pick but as Boxing fans we ALL knew this was going to be the route that was taken for Joshua. As to what benefit fighting Prenga will give when fighting Fury afterwards is yet to be seen,it looks to me as Prenga has been picked to give Joshua 2-3 rounds then stopped in impressive style to give Joshua a big confidence boost .

Prenga isn’t top level, but he’s durable and will come to fight, so it’s a decent test without too much risk. Joshua needs rounds and confidence more than anything right now.

If he looks sharp and finishes him convincingly, then the bigger fights start making sense again

 

Even then, before people call him soft, his good friend died in that crash. One could easily get ptsd from such an incident.
