Max Schmeling vs Albert Westphal

Westphal is not one of the 10 best German HWs ever. Schmelings number 1.

Yes. Schmeling made it to the world level and on boxrec it says Westphal never fought for the IBU/EBU so he didn't reach the top of Euro level.

 

Schmeling never had to run into Sonny Liston but we do know how it ended up with Joe Louis. Probably not as big a difference as we might think but Schmeling a little too good and wins a UD.

 

Schmeling caught Louis still young and taking him very lightly especially after his overwhelming victory over Baer who had destroyed Schmeling. Once Louis was plugged in it was a no contest.

 

Max Schmeling was not a Top 10 ATG or a Rushmore face, but he was a damn good prize fighter who would not be an easy day at the office for anyone even if he winds up losing or even getting KO'd. People think he was some kind of jabroni because of what happened on June 22, 1938, but like Frazier in Manila, Louis was pissed off and wanting to kill somebody that night and had made the jump to hyperspace, wookie, as far as doing business.

 

If anyone is interested I did a ted talk thread about Schmelings resume being overrated.

He'd still spank Westphal very badly tho.
