I don’t think Hrgovic will even end up cut against Dave Allen. I think it’s that much of a mismatch.

Hrgovic would be the real test. A guy worth of a title challenge, with the best chin in the division. A win over him — especially if it’s an easy KO win (unlikely) — is very meaningful.

miller could be a possibility too.

I'm not sure actually. But I guess he was at an earlier stage of his career.

Gassiev is a good fight tho IMO.

its a mismatch if Allen shows up over 240

if he actually gives a ****ing shite and comes in at 240 he may have a shot

I hope you’re right and I agree it is a mismatch. Although, Adeleye who is also a good journeyman at best along with Dave Allen did cut and tag Hrgovic quite badly in the last fight.

I’m not arguing about that it’s the framing of it and calling it a duck, which you have since been humble enough to redefine it as avoiding, it’s a rare thing to see on here so far play.
I can’t deny that he has done exactly what you described but I think it’s hard to name a boxer that doesn’t do that, I’m not saying that it’s justified or that I agree with it but it’s a means of keeping yourself in the spotlight while you don’t have a fight lined up. It’s slightly different for a younger fighter that doesn’t have the following of a more established fighter, in the sense that he doesn’t have the same strength of position with his promoter and doesn’t have the financial resources do as he wants or to dictate his potential opponents.
But my main problem I have is how he is being held to account more than certain more established fighters and definitely more than any other fighter of a similar age, I don’t think it’s because people want to see him fail and I don’t think that is what you want to see.
I don’t like to assume anything about peoples opinions but it’s possible that because he is so clearly talented that he’s held to a higher standard.
He might be the best boxer in the heavyweight division but for now he is the project of his promoter, he doesn’t get to decide who he fights right now.

He decides who he fights, as does every fighter. And it doesn't matter where the exaggerations are coming from...they are from his camp, one way or the other. And the point that I have made over and over is that he is being held to a higher standard because he is challenging everyone in the world without actually showing any real intention of fighting them. I just want the talk to be in the ballpark of the reality.

I do hope he remembers how much he wanted that title when it was Pulev, and jumps in with Gassiev, but Hrgovic will be acceptable. If it's David Allen...well...

If we see him in with David Allen next, then we have to revisit

He'll fight whoever is the lowest ranked, oldest, weakest chin, and lightest puncher they can find. Also he will have about two weeks notice.

Ok yeah he decides who he fights ultimately because he is the one that steps in the ring, but the options he has or the choice of opponent is decided by the financial value that fight makes and the benefit to future financial success.
He doesn’t have and will never have an opportunity to tell his promoter, I don’t care what makes financial sense and I don’t care if no one wants to see it, I’m fighting this guy because it’s up to me.
So it’s fair to say who he doesn’t fight or if he fights at all or even if he turns up for a fight, but he will not choose who he fights.

Of course he does. The promotor works for the fighter. The talent drives the show.

I'd like to see him fight Hrgovic. That would be a real test given Hrgovic's skills, experience, and chin. Also with Hrgovic's lack of power (perhaps I'm too cynical but) Warren will be able to ensure the win on points if it goes that way. Seems like the perfect opponent.

Gassiev seems like too much of a commitment to the WBA route. Though would be okay.

Wilder is highly unlikely to want to cash out against Itauma - the bag won't be big enough, and he probably has one eye on waiting on Joshua/Fury/Usyk

Zhang seems like too much of a gamble for Warren to want to risk that. The guy has a chin and monstrous power. If Zhang decides to take one to give one, it could end badly for Itauma. Not worth the risk.

Riakpore is the least exciting for me, but it would be for the British title as others mentioned. Least dangerous opponent for Itauma... So yeah... I expect this to be the fight that gets made

Oh please let it be Big Bang Zhang. He will derail this hype job in short order.
