That and there's a very real argument that he never beat a single actual contender.

Ortiz might've been at some point, though even that isn't clear, but a career whose highlight is a decent enough win against a gatekeeper isn't exactly glittering.
And then you have his age, health and the complete unknown as to how declined he was or wasn't... And he still damn nearly won.
It's not a bad win, but it's not the kind of win that props up a resume on its own - especially not one for a champion.

End of the day, he should've been trying to prove a lot more, a lot earlier.
It's possible he might've managed to - it's also possible he'd have lost much sooner and been nowhere near as overhyped.

Wilder beat zero world champions and IDK how you consider a gift draw a "successful" defense.

Wilder hyped as an ATG and he was a windmillimg bum

I consider it successful defense because IT WAS his eighth successful defense.

And Wilder had two more successful defenses after that, before he made his second defense (his eleventh in total) against Fury, where he lost the title.

Jack Johnson drew in a heavyweight title defense. Hasim Rahman drew in a heavyweight title defense. Chris Byrd drew in a heavyweight title defense. Lennox Lewis drew in a heavyweight title defense. Evander Holyfield drew in a heavyweight title defense. Deontay Wilder drew in a heavyweight title defense. They all counted. Wilder's the only one out the group who managed to floor his challenger not once but twice in the successful defense.

The only "gift" in that fight was Fury getting 20 full seconds after he hit the floor before the action resumed.

Foreman didn't get 20 seconds to recover after Ali floored him. Frazier didn't get 20 seconds after any of the six knockdowns Foreman scored on him in their title fight. Lennox Lewis didn't get 20 seconds to recover when McCall dropped him in their first fight.

Fury should've lost by KO in fights one and three against Wilder. The long count in the third fight was even worse.

Correction, your post is a lie.

Everyone Wilder defended against was ranked in the WBC ratings.

Stiverne was his WBC mandatory ... he wasn't UNRANKED. WTF are you talking about?

Wilder floored Fury twice and made his eighth successful title defense against him. Wilder didn't lose. He had two more successful defenses after that.

You guys copy and paste so many lies you don't even know what's real anymore. You make up ratings, ignore actual ratings, add losses where there were none because that's how "you" saw it.

Instead of copying and pasting garbage, use your actual brain and name 20 fights Fury had against better opponents?

Name 20 fights Usyk had against better opponents?

Same with Andy Ruiz. Name 20 fights and the opponents he faced who were better than:
    • Tyson Fury (three times)
    • Luis Ortiz (two times)
    • Joseph Parker
    • Zhilei Zhang
    • Bermane Stiverne (twice)
    • Robert Helenius
    • Sergei Liakhovich
    • Derek Chisora
    • Chris Arreola
    • Dominic Breazeale
    • Gerald Washington
    • Johann Duhaupas
    • Artur Szpilka
    • Audley Harrison
    • Eric Molina
    • Malik Scott

The list of opponents Wilder's faced is not only fine, it's better than some guys who were ranked on Pound-for-Pound lists from 2012 to 2022.

Name Errol Spence's 20 notable fights and opponents? Same with Loma? Same with Teofimo? Same with Mikey Garcia.

Want to know who was overrated? Start with the Pound-For-Pound lists and who had 20 fights against better competition.

Because you'll be shocked how many didn't.

Wilder is also probably the only HW "champ" who lost literally every round, except for 2 flash KD rounds, versus a champ opponent and got credited for a "defense." And, yes, Fury got a long count...just like Wilder got DEI rounds for the draw in the 1st fight.

Fury buried the windmiller only for windmills to get shutout by lowly career contender Joe Parker and then SONNED by Zhang.

Wilder literally lost every meaningful fight in his career. Never beat a former, current, or future HW champ and people (like you) rate his power like an ATG or rate his "defenses" over journeyman like some historic feat.

Thats the kinda fan you are XD

I didn’t copy anything. I thought you were talking about global rankings; I don’t care who the WBC ranked if they were ****. What is this “20 notable fights” thing? A fighter can be “notable” and still be trash, like Molina or Harrison. Usyk had 24 fights and achieved more than Deontay Wilder did in 50. I actually don’t think Wilder is that overrated now because he’s been exposed. I saw him as a mid-level heavyweight champion. Good, but not good enough to rack up 10 title defenses against decent competition. In his first six fights, he didn’t face anyone you would put in the top 10 that year.

For all your willful ignorance of the facts and your personal bias against Wilder, you can't name 20 fights of Usyk's where Usyk fought 20 better opponents.

    Just remember that.

Except, that's not true, either. Facts don't seem to matter with some of you. Just your own bias.

Name 20 fights where Usyk or Fury fought better opponents than the 20 fights of Wilder's I mentioned?

For all the hate, and all the bashing of the quality of his opposition, the truth is, Wilder's quality of opposition overall is better than most.

You can even go through guys in the top Pound-for-Pound ratings then and now who didn't have 20 fights against better opponents.

Hell, Jesse "Bam" Rodrguez, is in the top four pound-for-pound right now, hasn't even fought 20 guys with winning records.

That just shows how far down the Rabbit Hole you guys have gotten bashing Wilder and his opposition.

Fury fought Wilder 3x, Usyk 2x, Klitschko. The end.

Usyk fought Fury 2x, AJ 2x, Dubois 2x, undisputed at CW. The end.

In Furys only losses, Usyk, he won at least 4 rounds. In Wilders gift draw he won only 2 rounds (rounds he scored flash KDs in).

Wilder dominates bums and part-time fighters but wants zero smoke with real, full-time fighters. Proof is in the pudding...now EAT.

So my full list of the overrated champions during the decade 2012-2022 :

    - Zou Shiming in Flyweight a vacant belt was won against Kwanpichit, whom he had beaten two years earlier. Kwanpichit was a good regional boxer, but he didn't deserve a world title shot. Then, Zou Shiming lost his belt to Sho Kimura in his first defense. We also mustn't forget his attempt at the IBF title, where he received a boxing lesson against the Thai boxer Amnat Ruenroeng. Zou Shiming is certainly a major disappointment; we expected him to lead the billion-dollar pay-per-view market and open a bridge for boxing to the Chinese market.

    - Emmanuel Rodriguez in Bantamweight for many analysts, before his fight against Inoue, he was the best 118-pound fighter in the world, even surpassing Nonito Donaire and Zolani Tete. Once he regained his belt after Inoue moved up to 122 pounds, he was again considered the best in the division before losing it in his first defense against Ryosuke Nishida. As we know now, there were at least a dozen better boxers in the division. Although he possesses the qualities of a decent world champion, he was hailed as the new star of Puerto Rican boxing far too quickly.

    - Deontay Wilder, in the Heavyweight division, has certainly revitalized it, aside from his two fights against Luis Ortiz, which he lost before turning the tables, and his victory over the modest champion Bermane Stiverne. He's the archetype of a boxer who relies on two punches and doesn't know how to box. His challengers were of low world, or even regional, caliber, although the fights against Gerald Washington and Duhaupas were decent. In terms of wins, he's clearly inferior to Joshua, for example. And his power make him overrated he was compared with Mike Tyson or even Holyfield some years ago...

    - Jeff Horn in Welterweight

    - Leo Santa Cruz specially in Featherweight, Chris John, and Rey Vargas in Featherweight. It's hard to say who have the crown in this category.

    - Takahiro Ao in Super Featherweight during a moment some japanese was thinking Ao was better than Uchiyama for a unification...

    - Lawrence Okolie in Cruiserweight (and specially in Heavyweight but he is not a champion there)

    - Lucas Matthysse in Super Lightweight and Welterweight

    - Dmitry Pirog the most overrated Middleweight Champion of the decade he retired undefeated and have amazing defensive skills but he only beat Daniel Jacobs and Nobuhiro Ishida, his career was very protected.

    - Akira Yaegashi not in Minimumweight but when he moved up in Light Flyweight / Flyweight he was irregular and overrated.

    - Marco Huck in Cruiserweight

    Daniel Bruwer
    Danie Venter
    Andrei Kniazev
    Johnny Muller
    Pedro Julio Rodriguez
Krzysztof Glowacki (better than any wilder win)
    Thabiso Mchunu
Michael Hunter (would whip Ortiz if they fought at heavyweight).
    Marco Huck
Mairis Briedis (better than any Wilder win by a country mile)
Murat Gassiev (better than any Wilder win by a country mile)
Tony Bellew (better than any Wilder win)
Chazz Witherspoon (same level as Eric Monila)
Derek Chisora (not the career-fattest Chisora and not really close)
Anthony Joshua (better than any Wilder win by a country mile)
Anthony Joshua (again, better than any Wilder win by a country mile)
Daniel Dubois (better than any Wilder win by a country mile)
Tyson Fury (Wilder got KO'd twice by feather-fisted Fury, also better than any Wilder win by a country mile)
Tyson Fury (better than any Wilder win by a country mile)
Daniel Dubois (better than any Wilder win by a country mile)

Usyk has 24 fights compared to Wilder's 50 fights and still has a better resume by a country mile.
