It's Hearns, and there's a heck of a lot of daylight between him and Wlad in this regard.

I'd have Hearns at somewhere around the Top-50 All-Time Pound-for-Pound. Wlad is not even in my Top-100.

Hearns is a Top-10 ATG Welterweight (and every list I look at has him there).

I do not consider Wlad a Top-10 ATG Heavyweight (and not every list I look at has him there).

Hearns wasn't taken out by a trio of unrated fighters when he was in his prime.

Wlad was stopped three times in his physical prime by guys who weren't universally ranked.

Hearns is a legend who fought with other legends.

Wlad was just not as ordinary as the ordinaries (and less than ordinaries) he trudged through.

Hearns is a five-weight World Champion.

Wlad has longevity of reign in one of the worst eras of heavyweight boxing on record.

    There's no comparison really.

Interesting. At Wlad's peak he was ranked #2 p4p. Title fights count. That's all that counts frankly. Wlad is one of the biggest winners in boxing history. 12 years as champion and going 25-4 in title fights > 6 years as champion and going 14-4-1 in title fights.

The comparison is so disproportionate that it gives me no other option but going to the extreme.

You really expected osiris to win against Jordan 4s?

YDKSAB if you don't have Wlad in the top 10. That's ludicrous.

Wlad is so much more important and accomplished that these two shouldn't even be in the same discussion. He shut down the glamor division for a decade. No moving between super and jr divisions. Completely shutting down the marquee division, stifling the better part of a generation of talent with his dominance. When the dust settles he will be a top 5 ATG in the division and I'm not sure anyone will knock him down a notch in my lifetime.

I care about them. I thought it was both fitting and humorous.

You could have rolled most of that Wlad disciple crud up into one word: "longevity"... (...meaning it had already been covered).

If you'd wanted to add a little detail to Wlad's tenure(s), you could have simply added one more word: "mediocre".

OK. Two replies to the same post.

    You must be upset.

Not sure what it is about Wlad fandom that can turn a fully grown male into man-child with the mental age of 9. But I don't think there's a cure.

I'm going with Hearns here, without a doubt. Tommy annihilated Duran, beat Benitez, Hill, and Cuevas, made Leonard suffer and probably deserved the verdict in the rematch. He was at the top for over a decade and winning world titles in five weight classes. Wladimir is among the best heavyweights of all time (in the top 15 in my opinion), but he's mainly missing enough victories over champions to favor him over Hearns in a P4P ranking. Obviously, it's not Klitschko's fault, he faced the fighters who were there, but on one side we have Duran and Benitez and on the other Rahman and Samuel Peter.

Not at all. And I can't see why you'd think that. Perhaps the sarcasm of my '10 year' post did not come over 'in print'? I think we are in agreement about Wlad's place in the heavyweight pantheon.

I asked if you thought I had disparaged Wlad's achievements because our exchange went:

    1. You quoted my post with the sarcastic 10-year comment.

    2. I asked if you disputed something I said.

    3. You responded by saying you don't understand how anyone could disparage Wlad's achievements.

Hearns. Here's another angle, Klitschko likely had a size and weight advantage over most of his apponents. In the same context, it would be like if Hearns were fighting light weights and Welterweights while being bigger and heavier.
